Default Looking For Instrument Samples

I was wondering, do you have any suggestions where I can find live samples of instruments like the Yamaha DX-7, Pan Flute, Shamisen, 1890 Washburn Guitar, American Jaw Harp, Berimbau, Cuban Percussion, First Nations Cedar Flute, Alpenhorn, Bag
Pipe Ensemble, Bass Recorder, Frame Drum, Gadulka, Hardanger Fiddle, Highland Pipes, Hurdy Gurdy, Launeddas, Gamelan Ensemble, Gongs, Rag Dung, Vietnamese
Jawharp, Bansuri, Baritone Violin (Electric), Esraj, Tambura, Mid East Fiddle, Qandahar Dumbek, Yalli Tambur, Zourna, African Dual Wooden Shakers (Ewe),
African Metal Shakers (Ewe), Atsimevu, Axatse, Batas, Berkete, Dejembe Ensemble, Ekpiri, Ewe Drum Ensemble, Ewe Large
Bombshell, Ewe Medium Bombshell, 3ft FromTonFrom, 5ft FromTonFrom, Gankokwe Large, Gyil, Kalimbas, Kidi, Log Drums, Ngoni, Udu, Upright Pianos, Grand Pianos, Electric Pianos, an actual music box, Boys' Choirs, Girls' Choirs, Children's Choirs, and classic Synths like the Moog
and the Oberheim, as well as instruments from the Roland Sound Canvas SC8850, and instruments from the Yamaha XG Banks. I'm also looking for live samples of percussion instruments like Cowbells, Sleighbells, Starchimes, Bongos, Congas, Claves, Maracas, Guiros, Timbales, agogos, Shekeres, cabasas, shakers, castanets, Tablas, cuicas, Tambourines, quijadas, Dholaks, whistles, Rainsticks, Handclaps, and Fingersnaps. I'm also looking for live samples of classic drum machines like the LinDrum, Roland CR78, Roland TR606, Roland TR707, Roland TR727, Roland TR808, and Roland TR909. I'm even looking for the samples contained on the EMU Proteus 2500. Is there a way these can be made into .nki files, so they'll work in conjunction with Kontakt 2 and Sonar 6 Studio Edition?

Odd list... odd that the first half is practically copied, word for word from East West's RA spec sheet.

What is the purpose of your request?

How do I explain it? Well, the purpose of my request is to be able to have access to samples that I've always wanted to use in my music. And because I've searched everywhere, I can't seem to find live samples of these instruments. I can only seem to find synthesized versions. Also, it would be very interesting to hear what these instruments sound like, since I've never heard some of them. I mean, I've heard their names, but what exactly do they sound like? That's what I'd like to find out. And what better way to find out than to play them on a keyboard in a virtual instrument.

I still don't get it. You clearly know that East West puts out RA. There's your answer for that portion - pony up $500 or whatever it costs these days, and play to your hearts content.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your meaning of the word sample. Do you mean sample tunes with these instruments in them perhaps, rather than samples of instruments that you'd use in a sampler?

I actually meant, samples of instruments like you would use in a sampler. And, in case you're wondering, I spent $535 on Quantum Leap Colossus. However, it doesn't contain the instruments I've listed. I was expecting it to be like a bundle of every library in Eastwest's sample collection combined together as one, with lots of new stuff mixed in as well. What I mean by a bundle of every library is, the entire collection of instruments in each one. However, I was disappointed to find out that there were only a few instruments from each library, then most of the stuff was new. I contacted the Eastwest company, and unfortunately the representative I was in contact with said to me that there isn't a Colossus update. I was devastated. I wish there was an update, or at least periodic updates!

You've missed the point of Colossus and you're a little naive to think that it would have included all their libraries. If it contained all the things you listed, they wouldn't be able to sell RA for $500! The only alternative to RA that I know of is EthnicWorld 3 (actually I think 4 has just been released). But it's not really on a par with RA. So, if those are the instruments you want, that's what you have to get.

Creating a sample library takes a massive amount of work. One of my friends has done it (very successfully I might add). You wouldn't believe what goes into creating just one instrument, never mind a whole bunch. So, yeah, they're expensive. I've spent thousands on libraries in the last couple of years. If you want quality and variety, you have to pay for it.

I would suggest you cull your list down to what you actually need to create the types of music you want to create - it would take years for you to learn how to apply all the instruments in your list. Start smaller.

I had a SoundCanvas by the way. I have no idea why you'd want all the 1000's of sounds that were in it. Okay, there are lots of them, and in the 1990's, it was more than usable. But it's crap by today's standards of sample libraries.

If you've got some money, the East West Composers Collection at $1100 is a very good deal.

No they are not! DFH Superior cost me $250. A decent snare drum costs me $250. I consider samples to be incredible deals relatively speaking.

Expecting every sample known to man for $500 is ridiculous. Sorry. That's like wanting to buy a brand new car for $500. It ain't gonna happen.

I agree this is a strange thread. Who asks for a 1890 Washburn guitar sample? It's clearly pasted.

Agreed. I'm not an orchestra dude. I'm a rock/pop kind of guy. So when I got into samples, I bought the really good specific sample libraries of the stuff I'd need most (drums and bass) and then just stuck with the general sounds I found in Komplete. I don't think I have finger snaps for example, but I usually have enough general sounds to hold me over.

I think it's impossible to make a list of every sound you'll ever need in your life. I think it's better to focus on your core needs and then augment that as you need to.

How about I start smaller. Where would I find a sample library of the GS and XG Banks? How about a sample library of various guitars. I know I have Hans Zimmer Guitars Volume 1 and 2, but the one guitar I've been dying to have is the kind like you'd hear in country music. I could be wrong, but isn't that a lap steel? Or is that a pedal steel? Also, I've been trying to find the sounds contained on the Proteus 2500. Unfortunately, EMU doesn't manufacture the hardware machine anymore. However, they've told me that the samples and various phrases can be found in a sample library. However, they didn't specifically tell me which one. By the way, have you looked at the thread I started about looking for Electric Piano sounds?

You've got me on that one. Aren't those synthesized versions of real instruments? I'd rather just use real samples. That's the whole point of samples.

Yeah, it could be either one.
