Default Help Please!! Midi Feedback problems

Hello all, first, greetings and thank you in advance.

I own two korg Triton synth keyboards, Triton Extreme and Triton Classic, and I have connect booth by midi. I have sequences recorded on the Extreme's sequencer without connecting to the other Triton and playback perfectly. The problem arises when I connect the two keyboards via midi. With the two synths connected the sequencer playback suffers cuts and failures, as if the polyphony of the triton Extreme collapsing due to a Midi Feedback. This is the way that I have connect it:
The OUT port of the Extreme is connected to the IN port of the Classic, and the OUT port of the Classic is connected to the IN port of the Extreme.
The Triton Extreme is the master and run on sequencer mode and the Classic is in Combi mode. I want to play live sessions on booth keyboards, and to record booth on the Extreme´s sequencer. Channels 1-8 and 10-16 are reserved to the Extreme and channel 9 for the Classic. The Classic is in Combi mode and is set to General Channel 9. Both are set to "local on" because, as I said before, I want to play the two keyboards and record the session in real time. I have search a "thru off" option but is not implemented on these synths.
What midi adjustments must I do in the two synths, master and slave, to do this and to be able to record and then play back the session?

thank you in advance

Are they really master and slave? I mean have you set up the clock for one to midi and set send midi clock on the master?

------------------
So I don't have a korg, just wondering about your configuration.

Your going to record on the sequencer live?
That's the one area where I would wonder about.

The one with the sequencer is in multitimbral mode? (16 voices) and the other does only one voice at a time?

When you play the non sequencer unit, you don't need to trigger anything on the other unit do you?

If not I would disconnect the midi out from the non sequencer unit. That should stop the loop.

Of course the 'real' answer is to dig into your manual find out how to stop the keyboards from echoing midi they receive to the midi out port. If they can...

Thank you for the answer!

-Yes, they are master and slave. The Master unit send midi clock to the slave unit, and this unit is set to "external midi".
-Yes, I am recording live the two synths on the sequencer of the master unit yet. The recording is not the problem. I can set the sequencer of the master unit in "multi-rec" and he records all the midi information on all the midi channels set to "rec".
And, I am playing back all the session, even controller movements, filters, etc. All right but, suddenly, the sequence stops sounding, and then continues for playing ok some minutes and again drops and cuts.
I have make this test: After recording the sequence with the two keyboards, I disconnected the connector that goes from the Midi Out of the Slave to the Midi In of the Master, and everything sounds perfect. I mean, is a midi loop, which colapses the polyphony of the master synthesizer.

Yes, the one with the sequencer is in multitimbral mode (16 channels) and the other is in program mode, set to channel 9. The Channel 9 is reserved in the sequencer for the slave unit.

And not, don't need to trigger anything on the other unit when I play the non sequencer unit...

Thank you again for your support

If this were my problem I'd draw it out on paper, the signal flow, so I can understand exactly what's going on. Then I'd do tests and try and nail down just what is causing the problem.

To test I'd get a midi monitor, like midi-OX(computer software). So maybe one of the thru ports to the computer or one of the out ports and then from the computer to the other in port, so get the computer in there somehow so you can see what is happening.

It may be that they can't do what you want because your doing so many things at once. If there is no setting on a recording track that would stop the received message from being sent back out again...

Midi Solutions (hardware boxes) may have an answer, or if you could get a laptop to run a sequencer because a computer sequencer should be able to do what you want.

I'm gone till Monday, Good Luck!
