You need to use Continuous Controllers to control variables in MIDI parts. Volume is cc7. You'll find the controller lanes in your part, at the bottom. There is a standardized list of controllers, but not all VI's will respond to all controllers. Volume is about as stardard as it gets though, so you should be okay.

I'm curious what you are going to use this for. I'm certainly not a MIDI expert, but couldn't you achieve the same things with volume automation? Brandon |

Sure you could if you wanted to. In this instance it probably doesn't matter, but if you have, well, lets say 8 parts in a Kontakt instance and they come into Cubase as a single stereo output. In order to mix the parts individually, you'd need to use MIDI controllers. MIDI controllers have many more functions than volume. If you're not using them, you're seriously missing out. |
