What keeps it from being worth more? Just curious.

I have an EZ Drummer related question...
I'm using Acid Pro 5.0 to convert files for use in a digital recorder. I want to separate out the bass drum tracks so I can adjust the bass drum volume when I get to the final mix. I have not been able to get Acid pro to receive the tracks as separate tracks, even though I have used the EZ Drummer mixer to label each instrument as a separate track. I would be happy if I could just take the midi-bass-drum part out of the midi track. Then I could convert them separately to wave files. Any feedback/advice would be welcome. Many thanks, James |

Yes, of course, but I was hoping to find something more global, so that all of my midi tracks, and the various bits, could just be routed elsewhere all at once, instead of going in and deleting everything on each track.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. I'm not very experienced with midi (or digital recording, for that matter), so I do appreciate your help. Thanks, James |

Hmm. Well I don't use EZ Drummer, so I really can't say. (I have DFH Superior). I haven't used Sony ACID since like 1999 and that was just for goofing around.
These days, I do all my drum programming by hand so it's natural for me to reach for the sequencer. Let me make sure I'm understanding what you are trying to do. You are trying to render the sound of a drum kit down to stereo so you can use it in a standalone digital recorder, right? This seems a little odd to me, but maybe your situation is unique. You want control of the bass drum level, so you want to render it down seperately, right? Can't you render down all the drum mics to seperate tracks? DFH Superior does this. That way you can actually mix the record. What digital recorder are you using? Why not keep your recording in the computer realm? Just curious. Brandon

EZ Drummer also allows you to separate the tracks, but (for whatever reason) when I transfer the files to Acid, they remain on one track in the sequencer, not the separate tracks that I've designated.
I'm doing my main recording in a Korg D16XD, perhaps not optimal, but I'm new to all this, and my recordings in the computer kept producing random pops - and other issues - so the Korg is user friendly enough, and has all the built in effects I need, that, for the present, it is a good option. It's not that I'm trying to render it to stereo, the stereo is already there in the midi track. I just want to have control of the bass drum volume level in the final mix. As it is, at least as I understand it, EZ Drummer only allows you to control the volume prior to creating the tracks in the sequencer. Once in the sequencer (at least as far as my knowledge of Acid allows) everything is on one track. From there I render the midi to a stereo wave file that I transfer to the Korg. I know there is probably be a better way, but I'm new to this, and on a limited budget. The drums sounds are great in EZ drummer, and I can construct fairly interesting tracks with little effort, but sometimes, once all of my other instrument and vocal tracks are recorded, I want to change levels on some of the individual drum track elements. I would like to be able to do that with out re-doing the whole drum track. I hope that makes sense...and thanks for your help. All the best, James |

It it were me, I'd try to get my computer in order. While I've never used EZ Drummer before, I'd be shocked if you didn't have quite a bit of control over the mixing of the drums. I can't imagine anyone using it if they couldn't put a compressor on the kick drum or whatever. I think you would be better served by digging into EZ Drummer and figuring how to really use it. Of course, you have some computer issues, but those are usually very simple to solve. When in doubt, I just format. It works every time. What you are doing now is a very weird way of working. I understand why you would want to have the option of tweaking the kick drum during the mix, but I can't figure out why that's the only drum you feel the need to tweak. That's my opinion, anyway.
