Default Cubase sx3 midi playback timing

I use cubase sx3 and an Ederol pc50 as a midi controller. When I record midi, everything gets shifted foreward in time y about an 8th note. It is easy to fix, but I would like to know how to have the midi record in time. It is strange; basically the exact opposite of audio latency.

I've encountered this before, but I can't remember what the hell I did to fix it. I've head a handful of other people mention the problem but no one ever reported back here with the solution.

I remember almost all of my initial problems with Cubase SX3 were solved by downloaded the latest version from Steinberg.

With this one, I want to say that disabling MIDI through had an effect, but I have absolutely reason why I say that. It's just a hunch.

Hey - this is an issue with Cubase using the emulated midi ports instead of the MME ones. The first thing to do is to go into the settings and turn on "use system timestamp" - the setting is in the same place that you choose which audio driver to use (i'm at work so I can't check it i'm afraid).
If that doesnt work, try switching between the emulated midi drivers and the MME ones (in the same location).

I had the same issue with my 61SL and it took AGES to figure out how to sort it.

Unhappy Re: Cubase sx3 midi playback timing

I'm having this annoying midi timing problem too.
AMD Phenom Quadcore
Saffire Pro 40 on PCIe Belkin firewire card alone.
Vista 64 bit 8gb Ram
Cubase Essential 4.5
I've gone through all the recommended tips and tweaks. It doesn't help as Focusrite are still developing a solid driver for 64bit systems with over 3gb Ram.
The whole point about going 64bit is to enable extra ram so you can duet the 24 bit grand pianos...ha ha....but seriously this midi recording thing is nuts. The response time is immediate yet I can see Cubase inputting the note before it's scheduled trigger point.
I've tried both Evolution USB mk449c keyboard and also a Korg T3 inputting via the Saffire Pro 40 midi input with the same result.
Groove Agent 3 inputs it's midi to host OK.
I'm stumped.
