Hi There Everyone, I just started using Cubase LE 4 for recording and I have a problem when it comes to my Midi monitoring... I couldn't hear the sound coming out of my headphones when it comes to playing the midi track, but I could hear my recorded guitar parts... I exported a Midi Drum track from Guitar Pro 5 and when I import it in Cubase and play it, I couldn't hear the sound coming out. It know that I correctly imported the midi because whenever I play it I could see the monitor bars moving so that means I imported it right, but when I play it I could get no sound from my headphones... is there something i've done wrong? Please help me with this I would really appreciate any help or advice. Thank you and Godbless |

| I guess thats the thing I'm missing... I dont have a synth/drum machine hardware so i have to go with the VSTi. What is the VSTi and where could I download these programs and how does it work? ... are there VSTis that are free to download? Since I dont have the EzDrummer software I'm going to give this one a try.

1. I created some drum tracks in Guitar Pro 5 and exported them into a midi file(Since I don't have a Midi controller and I'm used to program drums with Guitar Pro since then). 2. I opened a new project in CUBASE LE and imported the Midi Track(the exported midi track from guitar pro). What I get from the Left part of the screen with the panels are: input: All MIDI inputs, output: not connected, No drum map 3. I added an instrument track and set the input to "All Midi Inputs" and I set the Output to "Halion One" from the VST Instrument Selection window that pops up everytime you open a new Intrument Track, and the "No Drum map" option selected. 4. Now when I go the Halion One control(the Halion window with the Knobs, i thinks its the controller)and when i tried to add a preset, I choose any of the drum kits(country drumkit/hip-hop drumkit/rock drum kit). When I select one of those an error message pops up: "HalionOne cannot find or Load preset "Rock DrumKit". This error message pops up in any drumkit I choose, but when I select it, I could see in the Halion Control(the Halion window with the Knobs, i thinks its the controller) that the Rock Drum Kit is Loaded and I could see it in the left panel of the project that I selected the rock drum kit(so basically I had it loaded even with the error message). 5. Now when I play the Midi track just to check before I record it I couldn't hear the Playback but the levels from the fader is Bouncing in the midi track... I really find this weird... Now I just wanted to record this Midi Drum Track I created and so that I could record my guitar tracks and I just couldn't do it because I cant hear the midi track(i even checked the monitors, i clicked and un-clicked it when the track was playing) and Im just baffled and I really dont know now what to do... Is there any way that anyone could help me with this. I actually have screenshots except that I dont know how to upload it. Please help me with this I've been trying to configure this for days now and I tried to post in other forums too. I hope I explained everything correctly so that you could help me with this. I would really appreciate it. |

This may be a bit too late, but I think I've figured it out, at least on my system... I imported the midi file (drum track only if that matters) from gp5. I have "in" set to all midi inputs, then i click on the "vst instruments" and added a drum (my setup has "lm-7" under the drum selection). At that point i have the drums playing and can hear through the head phones and can play with them.... i have loaded drum stuff like drumagong or whateva a while back, I'm not sure if that is needed.... |
