Hit that button. Basically, it's allowing you to expand that tracks that EZD is sending out to Cubase.

Now, open up EZDrummer and go to it's mixer window.

Right click just below the kick channel or snare or any of them. Set it to multi-channel, I think it is.

In the tracks section of Cubase, under the VST instruments folder, you should now have the extra tracks for EZD. Labeled "EZ2", "EZ3" etc...

Man, I hope that helped you figure it out. I feel like I left a step out or forgot something since I'm not looking at it right this moment.
Vulconizer, you just saved me from throwing my computer out the window Thanks!

That's awesome! Glad to help.

If you ever feel the need to toss it out the window again though, just send me a PM with your address, which window it will be, and I'll grab my truck and a mattress to catch the puter with....

in sx3 you load up the ezdrummer plugin, click on mixer, then right click on the track number down the bottom. It will then let you select multichannel, which will give you a separate channel for each 'mic'. (pretty much as dan says above !)

Greetings

I've come to the pool of knowledge to try and get a drink of wisdom form others that have had the same thirst to quench when it comes to configuring EZD to Cubase 4. I've got the updates for Cubase and its not the LE version. It's the real mcKoy. Ive tried to configure the vst instrument panel and started up EZD there. Gone to EZT and selected multichannel, back to vst instrument panel to select all stereo outputs and it actually makes 1 midi channel and 8 separate instrument channels just like the 3rd jpeg shows. Now I drop a file from EZD onto the instrument tracks and it creates a new instrument track below the 8 that are already there and doesn't have any audio until I go to the new instrument track chanel strip and change the output to EZD. I also tried doing mutli channel on EZD on this new instrument channel and it just keeps on chasing it's tail around. I'm closer that I was two days ago when I first started this but there's still something I'm missing here that I can't put my finger on. I saw a Youtube config like the one I'm after set up with EZD and Protools and I think I understand the concept pretty well but I must be missing something in the back end with the I/O in device setup or something. Do I still keep the I/O setup with 1 stereo input and 1 mono or more inputs and only 1 stereo output or do I need more outputs? I can't see why but... any advise from those who have had the same issues would be appreciated.

Cheers

Dan

I open up EZDrummer as a VST instrument.
(first pic) Then I go into the EZDrummer mixer and go to the output selection on the kick drum buss and click where it says track 1, then select multichannel.

(second pic)I go back to the VST instrument panel and click on the symbol next to where it says EZdrummer, select activate all outputs.

(third pic)This should automatically open up all the channels for you once everything is activated.

The pics should be in the order of how we do it.

Hope this helps.
So far so good... but when I drag 'n' drop the drums from EZD into Cubase it creates a new instrument track with all the drums in it, and the separated channels are not used. What am I doing wrong?

I am using Cubase Studio 4.5.2 and EZDrummer 1.1.1
Please advice.

Are you setting the output of that newly created Track to EZDrummer? The same thing happens for me (drag 'n drop makes a single track). Just have to set the output of that track to EZDrummer. As long as you have EZD set up for multi-channel mode, it should work fine.

If you are doing it like this, and it still isn't working, let me know. I'll check with the Magic 8-Ball and hope it says something other than "reply hazy, try again"...

Got it working 15 minutes after posting... Would have replied here, but I got excited and started building my drum track. Thanks for all your help.

I got it up and running with a few hurdles along the way.
Thanks for the help : - ) Now it's about making effects sends and directing them over to audio channels to record EZD files as .wav files and having the ability to edit these in detail. I'm making headway now!!!

If you're having problems with Cubase 4 creating an additional instrument track each time you drag and drop a new midi file ( loop ) from EZDrummer then there is one small button you have to click to stop that. Otherwise it creates a bunch of tracks that will soon drive you nuts. Go to the preferences and deselect "auto dissolve" ( see attached picture ) and then click apply. After that it should allow you to drag and drop your drum tracks on to the originalEZD midi lane in Cubase. Sometimes Cubase doesn't remember that you did this click and defaults back. I saved the template preference and start all of my songs with this new template and it seems to be working fine.

Cheers

Dan

The picture is so small that I can't make out where that is, but I am assuming that you are talking about the option:
Auto Dissolve Format 0 under Preferences -> Midi -> Midi File.

Is that correct?
