Default Connect Midi Guitar To Synth

I HAVE A YAMAHA AZ-AG MIDI GUITAR ALSO A ROLAND SH-201 SYNTH
I CABLED UP THE MIDI INS AND OUTS HOPING WHEN I STRUMED A CHORD ON THE GUITAR I WOULD GET A SYNTH CHORD SOUND FROM MY ROLAND.
ALL I COULD HEAR WAS THE TOP E STRING NO OTHER STRINGS WOULD PLAY THROUGH THE SYNTH.IS THERE A WAY TO PLAY SAY A (G) CHORD AND SO ON THROUGH THIS SET UP.HEARING ALL STRINGS AT ONCE:

Intereting. While I've never set up a MIDI guitar before, I would expect all the strings to work as one "unit" without the need for any separate channels or anything like that.

Wait a minute. You mentioned you could only "hear" the E string. Just for quick troubleshooting, take a look at your software meters and see if MIDI data is being received when you strike one of the other strings. Another way to test this is to hit record, play a chord, and then look at the MIDI file to see which notes were picked up.

Oh. Well that makes things easier and more difficult. Are you getting any sort of visual feedback to let you know that that MIDI data is actually making it to your synth? We still need to determine if the problem is in the MIDI pickup or in your synth.

I Will Have To Look Again The Only Clue The Two Are Connected Is The Bottom E String Playing.even When That Was Playing There Was No Indication On The Synth Apart From The Sound Coming Through.

This is not a real MIDI guitar by the way, but that aside, looking at the MIDI implementation table, I would guess that each string transmits on a different MIDI channel - ie, channels 1-6.

You'll need a computer based rig for that.
