MIDI connectivity will get you started but you'll also need a sequencer to record your midi creations into. Then you'll also need to either get them to play back properly through the keyboard (which might be harder than you'd expect), or use sounds inside your computer. For the latter, you should really look into a pro-sound card or audio interface. Otherwise, the latency is going to be so bad that you'd never be able to use the keyboard to play back the sounds in your computer.
So, the big question is, what do you want to get out it? That will determine what you need to buy next.

I have a couple of interfaces, one is a USB 2.0 Tascam US 122L which is OK and then I have the Phonic FireFly 302 which is 1394 and pretty good, especially for the latency, so it should work good. The Tascam came with GigsStudio so I have tons of samples. As long as I can play around with it - it should at least be somewhere to start, it is confusing. Theres no mod wheel whatever that is, at least I don't think there's one.
I just ordered a couple of cables. It will be interesting. I've already learned how hard it is to make good recordings. I have Cubase LE and it's very powerful, it just takes a long time to learn this stuff.
I think I can I use this to put drum sounds together.
Thanks for the heads up.
