Default cakewalk zeta+ and rapture

I bought sonar producer pack from cakewalk for about $200 - they had a 2 day special on and I couldn't resist. Just as I thought, cakewalk was NO cakewalk and I find it difficult to use with all the re-routing that has to be done. But all the VST instruments work really well with Live 7 - my favourite (non-linear, German) music production tool.

I've searched the web and found a number of 3rd party extension packs for Rapture (I liked it so much I upgraded to the full version - $99). I wonder if any of you guys could recommend a good Rapture extension pack - or a place to buy them? Or a free place to download them? The same with Cakewalk Zeta+?

Did you have any luck with this? I know nothing about Cakewalk or Rapture, but I hate to see a forum thread go unanswered.

Thanks Brandon,

It seems that Cakewalk have released their own pretty good updates and plug-ins for free. Considering I paid $200 for two pretty major synths and another 7 or so mastering VST plug-ins (convolution reverb, compressors etc.) during a 2 day "buy the whole production suite" firesale - I reckon I did extremely well.

Just wrote a tip for Computer Music mag about it (dunno if they'll publish it) but your readers should also know NEVER pay full price for software. Cakewalk Sonar LE comes bundled with the Edirol PCR 800 midi player - I upgraded from that to Sonar 7 Producer for only $200. Instead of $1,000!!!

While I don't use the package because I find it too linear and traditional for me, it would be fantastic for most of the guys here. The 10 or so VSTs that come with it are quality items and I run them happily in Live. But I recommend joining their mailing list and striking only when the deal hits your inbox. They try allsorts. Presently they're offering a free T-shirt with the software . . . but they'll break.

It's just a matter of layng low, being stealthy and slowly putting your credit card beside the computer until - FLASH! The time is right.

Steinberg does the some thing. Upgrading from Cubase Le to Cubase 4 Studio or Cubase 4 is half the price of buying from Musician's Friend.
