Used to play Ludwig Vistalites for fun. Never liked the feel. I always hear they are louder, but I'm not buying that. Good wood drums can crank. I have a set of C&C maple that are so loud they hurt my ears if unprotrcted. If you like acrylic kits go for it. That's why there is chocolate and vanilla...

ok well getting back to the original question...i have a ddrum dominion ash set that i got about 7 months ago and i love it. i was a little skeptical at first but was blown away when i heard the tone of the ash. the ash has a lot more projection than maple but has similar sound characteristics.. however you get more low end comparable to that of mahogany. ive used these on countless recordings and while its not an upper level dw or a truth... at this level it takes a discriminating ear to really tell them apart. i think they were actually underpriced and would have payed more for them. so thats my experience with ddrum. plus they just look sexy.... ill post a link to a demo recording video with these, however the kick is a custom 16''x 26'' not the 20'' by 20'' that came with it.

i also have good experience with ddrum
i own the death punx 7 piece kit
in my early days of drumming i wanted to follow the trend of 2 bass drums
soon after, i found out that a double pedal feels much better
and of the tuning problems with 2 kick drums
overall a very impressive set
ive always been satisfied with the tone/quality
i have evans g2 coated batters and aquarian resonance
stock heads on my kick
and evans power center reverse dot snare head
the store i ordered from threw in stagg cymbals with my kit
which i am finally replacing with sabians
i couldnt ask for a better kit =D

I have used a ddrum Dominion AMX 7x13 snare for just over a year and I love it. The AMX series is sold exclusivly through Musicians Friend/Guitar Center. The AMX is a Ash/Maple shell. I get the projection of Ash and the ****th of Maple. The 7x13 size a perfect for me because it has the 'pop' of a piccolo snare with the body of a larger snare. It comes with die cast hoops that also give it a brighter sound. I can get a great high pitch crack without cranking the heads so tight that I choke the sound and ****th.
