Super protective about hardware

I'm particularly protective of my gear. As for hardware, most people dump all the stands together inside a trap case. Me, I'm trying to avoid scratching up my new hardware. Is there a trap case on the market that offers some kind of protective dividers for your stands?

How in the world do you really expect to play a show without destroying your gear? I've never seen it happen. It would be easier to fly to the moon.

I guess if you had your own semi-trailer for your drums you may be able to pull it off, but people are still gonna be dumping beer onto them, tripping over them, bashing them into things, and about anything else you can imagine.

I respect the notion of taking care of your stuff. However, in war the need to survive takes over the need to stay clean. I think this is a similar situation.

I think the best solution is to have a used/lesser quality kit for playing gigs and have your "dream" kit that stays in your home studio/drum room. If thats not possible for you then wrap each cymbal stand, snare stand, hi hat stand etc. in a bath towel and tie a piece of clothes line around the towel before loading them into the case. Another solution would be to buy used hardware just for gigs that you wouldnt mind throwing around.

Not that I gig or have really nice hardware or anything, but I do care somewhat about damage. I keep all my hardware when it's being transported in a golf travel bag. It's a bag you put your golf club bag in when you're taking a plane or whatever. The chrome plating on nice hardware is super tough and doesn't get scuffed very easily. You could wrap towels around individual pieces if you're worried.

Heheheh. Good one there Brandon. But... Still... I'm no newbie. I've played countless gigs, and have managed to keep my gear in excellent condition. Not quite as if it were stored in the studio 24/7, but enough that you couldn't tell it's been gigged extensively. A little extra care goes a loooooong way.

I happen to have strips of bubblewrap lying around... The strips are about as wide as the case, so I just started creating layers...

Like, lay harware, and then a layer of bubble wrap, then hardware then another layer. It's quick enough that's it's not a hassle. It actually works really well. Unless you start throwing the case around, the hardware that sits together in the same layer doesn't really bang against each other. -D

I think you've been lucky, personally. After running live sound gigs, I've went to the stage to see about a 1/2" of beer covering a good portion of the stage with tons of electrical equipment, surge protectors, etc just setting in it. In that environment I couldn't imagine anyone keeping their gear looking new.

when i was 13 years old i busted a brand new strat over a dudes head in a night club gig he was drunk with a knife and i layed him out but recked my guitar you never know when shit will happen to your equipment brandon you are right I couldn't imagine anyone keeping their gear looking new. ---------------------------------------------acoustic
