One of the last giants of Be Bop Jazz drumming, Max Roach died yesterday (8/15/07) He was 83. Played for The Duke, Clifford Brown, Monk, and Bird in addition to his own orchestras. His drumming style was very complex, but also very musical. Above all it grooved!
To a lot of Roach's comtemporaries, it has been reported, that he had a massive ego and was difficult to deal with. It's not bragging if you can back it up! Lump
