I've just bought myself a second hand set of V-Drums. The brain is a TD-6 which is an old model but still very impressive. I'm trying to record my TD-6 V-Drums on my computer.
I've purchased a MIDI to USB lead and the computer recognises the kit as 'USB audio'. I'm a beginner with MIDI and would really like to know how to record onto a program such as Acid Pro, cubase, etc, etc. Also, I'm hoping to trigger other samples (using the v-drums) from software such as BFD, so that I'm not limited to the samples within the brain. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance...Lou. |

What exactly is the problem? If you are just looking or an overview, I'd check the manual for whatever software you plan to use.

Thanks for your response. The problem is that I want to play the v-drums and record the MIDI on my computer so that I can edit later. The drums aren't communicating with my computer at the moment. I was just wondering if there are any v-drums specialists out there who may be able to shed some light on the situation. I will check the manual again. Thanks again for taking the time to respond...Lou.

I've never heard of these. What brand is it? Where did you get it? I'd like to read up on them because I'm very interested in how they work. Generally, MIDI isn't that complicated to get into the computer. I always make sure I've set my MIDI device as the default MIDI device in both Windows Control Panel and in the recording software I'm using. After creating a new MIDI track, it should be as straight forward as selecting the right input and arming the track. There can be complications with selecting the right MIDI channel and things of that sort, however. Brandon

Hi Brandon, thanks for your response. The lead is a Z-TEK (non-brand), I got it in Bangkok for around 20 dollars. This could be the problem but as I say the computer recognises it. I'm going to have another go later, as I said I'm a beginner with MIDI. I guess I'm just too used to those 'plug and play' devices that we all know and love! Been a while since I've had a technical problem like this. Thanks again...Lou.
