Ive been using remo pin-stripes for years (since the early 80's) and absolutely love them! I play hard and they hold up well for my style.

I just tried the pin-stripes ebony and so far Im very pleased. I coupled them with ebony ambassador resonant heads and have been playing with tuning a bit trying to get that perfect sound! So far I have not had to add any muffling to my toms, this may change when I jump to recording, I guess we will see!

The evans hd dry on the snare, and g2 coated on the toms is all you would ever need. I just played on an EP and the RE said they were the best toms he had ever heard.

If you want to reduce resonance time......tune the resonant head slightly higher than the batter head..... If you over do it it will sound quite dull though...
Cheers,
Ronnie

Evan's EC2 Clear- toms
Aquarian Super Kick II- bassdrum(s)
Snare- your favorite coated

As far a Remo pinstripes- great head back in the day but today there are better options IMO.

Not personally a drummer myself, but, I'd recommend the Evans on snare and toms. Aquarian on kick.

We are able to make the studio kit sound pretty damn spiffy with those heads.

Like, spiffy as you'd want.

Like, so spiffy that spiffy isn't even close.

Like, super spiffy an' stuff....

hmm, I think I need to do some more research.
You mean like buy a couple and putting them on? Yes, I can get behind that. Can you imagine a guitar player "researching" guitar strings?

I'm loving my Remo Renaissance heads on this '60s Slingerland kit I have. They don't have them at GC, which is a drag.

I've got Terri Bozzio Attack heads on my old Rogers. Makes 'em sound... well... spiffy!
