Most people tend to stick with the Shure Beta 52a or the Audix D6. I personally use the Audix D6 and am sold on it. Like with any mic selection, it is all about the sound you want and can coax out of the mic. If you are looking for something to fit a lower budget, look at these $80 and $130 options. I've used them and they work just fine if you don't have $200 for a kick mic. Guitar Center sold me a D6 for $115 so if you have some good negotiating skills you can get the price down. But I spend a ton of money there and they always take care of me. I use a Nady D90. Set me back like $40. Came with a case and everything. I have used and abused it for about a year now. You can always use a SM57 if you have one handy. Since it's a wedding gig I wouldn't sweat it too much; they will be crying for you to turn it down three seconds tops into the sound check. But they pay good, you usually get a decent meal, the beer is always free, and drunk chicks are easy. Lump
