Default Who's your favorite guitarist?

I know this might be hard because there are so many, but my favorite is Stevie Ray Vaughn because 100 years from now, people will still be wondering how he did what he did. He's just my idol!

I'd have to say either Robert Jphnson or Muddy Waters. What they did was both amazing and groundbreaking. They really shaped the blues into what it is today.

Just as Kenny Wayne Shepard simply copied SRV. I see a pattern here.

I feel like I've evolved to point as a fan of great songs that I know longer have a favorite guitarist. It seams sort...I don't know..... like I was missing the bigger picture when I liked a guitar player. I like songs now. Hell, I don't even know who the guitarist is in most of the music I listen to these days.

You gotta respect the fame and skill of Santana. He can make a living off other current stars of today just by making his guitar "talk" a little in thier songs.

I'm not sure how he pulled off that gig, but he's made a living for a medium sized 3rd world country.

Stevie Ray copied Jimi Hendrix??? Are you kidding???

He could play circles around Hendrix.... He played a couple of his songs to show respect. And he played them better...

I think my favorite right now is Joe Bonamassa...

Clarence White is my favorite (Kentucky Colonels, BYRDS) ...He wrote the book on acoustic bluegrass 'flatpicking' and also on modern 'country' style guitar (he helped invent the b-bender)....NO ONE! and I mean NO ONE has phrasing, timing and syncopation like this guy did...he was totally unique and original.
