Just trying to get a sense of who uses the site. I know the genres are kind of vague, but it was the best I could do.
Me, I'm folk/acoustic rock Tell me if I missed anyting. -Tyler

See that is a hard question......really hard when you play in a bar band trying to work playing gigs...
So I would say with the Roving Gigolos we are Classic Rock/Alt. Country/Folk/Punk/Hard Rock.....the set list will vary as we adjust for the venue each night. Now my solo stuff the last 5 years is Ambient, Acid Jazz, Fusion, & Dance all blended together.

I would love to say that I fit comfortably in one genre. But I do believe different is good. I'm going to say Alt. Rock is the closest with my band, but try to play Alt. Rock on a piano by yourself.

I said jazz... probably the closest one that covers most of what I do - even my funk band is heavily jazz influenced.
I play in a funk band and big band regularly, play jazz combo from time to time, stage shows whenever they come up. Tonight I did a gig with a symphony orchestra and big band. We did a few classic big band tunes, and a ton of Mowtown songs with three great singers. Rich |

I think this poll would be better if it allowed for multiple choices since I can't slot myself into any one genre of music.
I play blues frequently with one band. Another does more alt rock. My main band plays classic and prog rock. My first CD was a mix of blues, prog rock, and classical music. I love jazz, play it when I can. I even play a little country even though I never listen to the stuff. |
