Default TAXI- Good or Bad?

I've heard some mixed reviews for TAXI. People have always said it's either a great service, or one to avoid. I've heard success stories, but any site like this has success stories. My question is, do any of you have experience with TAXI, know anyone who has used it, etc., and what was it like?

It's pretty expensive! My boss joined, and has had a couple of referrals (or whatever they call it). He said that you have to pay for every referral ($5 or something), and that doesn't guarantee you a deal. That said, you can turn down referrals I think if you think it has got little chance of success.

I'd say its probably really good if you are!

It's a service. You are paying them to help you. However, it's really up to you to succeed. If you are writing / submitting material that is good enough or "right" for whoever needs the song(s), you have a good chance of getting somewhere.

If your music isn't good enough or doesn't fit the material, you won't get very far.

Some people get really pissed at TAXI. Not every starving Hollywood actor deserves to be in Tom Hank's shoes. Some are extremely talented but just aren't right for a given role. Some just suck. Some suck and are right for a handful of roles (Vin Deisel, for example).

Music is the same.

You are taking a leap of faith by jumping on TAXI. However, it could pay off extremely well, it may not.

When I've got about 100 noise compositions done, that I'm really proud of, I probably will join TAXI just to see if I can some of my ruckus in a video game or Colgate commercial. It's more of a "just for fun" thing.

Yeah, I guess it's a cost-benefit analysis. $300 is a shitload of money for someone like me (student), and I'm not sure if it's worth it. But again, if it helps me, it's worth it.

I'm not really thinking about joining it anytime soon, because I don't think I'd be up for it yet. Maybe a few years or so, but not now.

It's important to note that "artistic merit" doesn't mean a damn thing on the TAXI side of things. It's straight up capitalism. While I personally see a direct and obvious connection between capitalism and art, there are also some differences.

So with that said, a lot of the success in TAXI comes in the way of commercials. While I'd love to make a few bucks getting some dumb techno thingy of mine on a Mountain Dew commercial, I don't know.

Generally speaking, it seams that more people get their noise on Discover Channel specials than anything. Some artists have been signed and even been successful, but this seams to be the minority.

A guy I produced (which should have his cds printed any day now) is joining TAXI as part of our agreement. I think the album is good enough to have as good of chance as anything else of making $$, but you never really know. Even with the best song on the planet, it's still a crapshoot. He's going to try to sell songs and sell the finished recording (we are looking for any money that we can get).
