I met 3 Doors Down at the Circuit City here in Cape. They seemed like just good ol' country boys. They were really cool, signed autographs for everyone who wanted in the store. They were staying at the Drury Suites and walked over to the store when their tour bus got there.................I had a cold all that week before I met them, and when they had the show the next day at the show-me center the singer ended up losing his voice half way through the show.....I still hope that I didn't have anything to do with that.........

The most noteworthy band I've met is The Reverend Horton Heat. I met them in Columbia after a show. Really friendly guys. They invited me and the people I was with to go to a bar with them. But I was and still am under 21.

I don't mind dating myself. I know I'm older than Brandon, but there have to be some older dudes around here. In high school I went to a Poison/Faster Pussycat concert. We stopped at a gas station/convenience store on our way home, and Faster Pussycat was there buying microwave pizzas and other snacks. That was pretty surreal.

I also ran into Angelo Moore from Fishbone on the street one day the semester I spent in France. He seemed to be mostly interested in meeting women in cafes, but he was nice enough to spend a little time with a couple college students from the US. I can't blame him. The friend I was with was a huge Fishbone fan, so he was a bit star struck. We actually had tickets for the show that night. The best part was seeing Tool open for them. This was shortly after Tool's first album came out. I wish I had been more familiar with them at the time, but it was still an awesome experience.

I guess meeting these people and seeing them in everyday situations makes them seem more like real people, rather than just "stars" or whatever.

I met Weird Al at Six Flags a few years back. He was just strolling along outside the Log Flume before his show that evening at the park. My kid seen him first. We shook hands and he signed my ass; in that exact order. Nice guy, great penmanship.

There's this band in Massachusetts called Beatlejuice, and it's a Beatles tribute band. My brother takes lessons from the drummer in it. Brad Delp (Boston) is the singer in it, and I met him a few weeks ago while going with my brother to his lesson. It was quite cool.

Oh my goodness where do I begin. I've been to the NAMM convention many times so I've literally met hundreds of "rock stars".

I'll just tell you about the nicest people I met:
Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins
Tommy Lee - Motley Crue
Michael Anthony - VanHalen
Nuno Bettencourt - Extreme and solo guitar stuff
Tony Iomi - Black Sabbath

The biggest assholes I've met:
one of the "bearded" guys from ZZ Top - I have no idea what his name was but he was a cock!
Gene Simmons - KISS (and I'm a huge KISS fan)

Actually there haven't been too many assholes. Everyone is usually real nice when you meet them because they know it's you that puts the food on their table. ;D

I used to work at a blues club in Memphis, and I met alot of bands there because even if they didn't play there, they usually came into the club to check it out. A few of the people I met there were :

ZZ Top- 2 of them were nice, and 1 was very rude! (must have been the same one you met jclason)

Clarence Gatemouth Brown-? very great guitarist and a very kind soul

Aerosmith- these guys came in to visit and ended up playing 3 songs in our little club with the house band! Everyone freaked out, and all of us waitresses stopped waiting on everyone so we could watch them! They were all very nice people and were not rude to anyone. They spent alot of time talking with people.

Jeff Altmont(spelling?) the drummer for Pearl Jam- very nice guy, a little shy and quiet, which is different than I thought he would be considering the music they play.

Greg Allman- He did not play, just came in and ate lunch because he knew a girl who worked there. He was nice at first, then he got really arrogant. Our boss asked him to sign a shirt for the wall, and comped all of his food and drinks for he and his friend, and then when he left he said that because the boss asked him to sign that shirt, I was not getting a tip, and that my tip was meeting him. I thought he would be different because he's supposed to be a good ole' southern guy and we southerners are usually polite!

Met Van Halen after a concert once at a hotel. They were all nice, but David Lee Roth was wasted, and he did not look near as good as you would think close up.

Went to an after concert party that UFO was at. They were very nice and fun to hang out with.

I have met many more musicians and most are very nice.

Talking Re: Successful Musicians.. Who have you met, what was it like?

Johnny Coles
James Brown
Maceo Parker
Charlie Bird
Paquito D'Rivera
Arturo Sandoval
Winton and Branford Marsalis
Stanley Jordan
Luis Salinas
Mike Stern
Scott Henderson
Dave Weckl
Brandon Fields
They all influence the way I play now....
I spend some time with all of them so the stories are long...
They all were very nice , some crazier than others... jejeje.
Best of all is that I got to play with most of them!

I know I'm missing a few... but as I get older... my ram fails from time to time...
