Just a heads up to folks in the South East Missouri Area who my want to submit a track.......I have extended the deadline so we can get more music. A huge new listener base for your music...and it will only cost you $10!!! Brandon produced a few of the tracks on the first CD. Here is the Official info: It?s time for Round 2!!! I am happy to announce that it?s time to start collecting tracks for the second ?Your Music Your Way? compilation CD featuring local artists. The 1000 copies we had pressed of the first CD are going fast. (700 copies given away in the Cape and Carbondale markets) Never before have local artists had their tracks put directly in the dash of a possible fan. Hundreds of people will hear this CD first on their new car stereo. Track submission deadline will be Saturday April 15th. Here is the official info: Stereo One, Inc. would once again like to introduce an exciting joint marketing effort between Stereo One and local musical artists. The purpose of this marketing effort is to put the Stereo One message and the music of local artists on a Compact Disc that would be given away at no charge to customers. The CD would be placed directly into the in-dash players of vehicles as they exit our installation facility and be given out at Stereo One events. What we are looking for: 15 to 20 original tracks of music in different genres (such as rock, metal, country, roots rock, rap, inspirational, pop, blues, etc) The artist must be the sole copyright holder of the material (and must fill out an Intellectual Property Rights form for the track) Material cannot contain any foul or suggestive lyrics, sounds or samples Artists wanting to be heard by a very diverse group of people (a lot wider audience than just the local club, bar and concert scene) Other Info: We would like to have a collection of very well recorded music; so sound quality will be evaluated for each prospective track. (Due to the nature of our business this is very important) Due to compilation time restraints and content requirements, some submissions may not be used. Stereo One staff will evaluate all the material and make the final selection. Stereo One, Inc. will provide an area for local artists that appear on the compilation to display their CD in our store. (Stereo One, Inc. will keep $1 for each CD sold with the artist keeping the remainder of the profit from their pre-determined price) Stereo One, Inc. will collect a one time $10 fee from the artists that appear on the CD, to help offset the initial marketing costs. This is your opportunity to get your music directly into the CD players of hundreds of new listeners over the next few months. Stereo One, Inc. has been the area?s leader in Mobile Electronics since 1980. For more info contact: Greg Vaughn Mobile Electronics Division Sales Manager Via email greg@stereoone.net

Yes I have moved the deadline to May 31st. Last time we went 45 days past the deadline also. On April 15th I had 1 track in hand for the disc. There are several bands that are completing track in the next couple we weeks that are interested....The Corporate Mustashe and Prom Night Heros being 2 that Brandon is working with. I will have enough tracks to fill the disc.........but with so many bands in our area with recorded material the intrest is very low in this project......very low. It's a very good way to get your music heard by tons of people that would never get to hear it............ GV

The solution that I've come up with is to do my best to filter out the unserious bands. Before I used to take pride in how many projects I had done. I even wrote on my "about the author" page that I've mixed over 600 songs. This is true. Unfortunately, it doesn't say how many songs I've mixed well. In other words, I'd rather only work with 2-3 bands per year and do the projects right and come out with something to be proud of. I've lost all interest in recording 30 projects a year. Of course, it's tough to release a sampler cd with one band on it. ![]() Hang in there, Snoopy. Keep working hard. If you get frustrated by others, there is a simple solution....put that extra energy into your own music and projects. Brandon |

...but with so many bands in our area with recorded material the intrest is very low in this project...... Yes, but once you consider that most of those bands are playing and recording music that 90% of the people who buy car stereos at Stereo One would hate, then really it's not so bad.... There might be 100 local bands, but half of them all sound the same anyway. Once you start narrowing it down, and then picking different styles, you have just enough to fill a CD... I hope that we can get at least one song done and mixed by your deadline, so we can throw it on there if you still have room. I think it's cool that you are doing this, and really cool that Stereo One went along with the idea in the first place.... I need to get a copy of some of your music at some point. I've never heard any, and would surely dig it. My uncle is really into that dreamy type stuff, Kitaro and etc... as well. I am assuming that's the kind of stuff you do... But I could be wrong...

Yeah, Brandon hit the nail on the head. Bands around here just don't give a fuck (apparently) about promoting their music. The comp cd I did a few years back was successful, but hell, it was like pulling teeth to get 16 bands on it. Deadlines came and passed, bands said yes and never sent in the submission fee, on and on and on.....and my fee was $50.....image how hard that was, lol. Because of the low interest, I decided not to do one this year. I'm not spending half my internet time trying to convince bands to do something they don't want to do. It sucks cause it's good promotion ya know? But with that said, good luck with the Stereo ONE cd!
