Well,
I took a chance. Me and my brother (the only person I could find to go) went to Pet Shop Boys concert the other night. I had never been to a non-rock/metal show before. I must say that it was "different".
First off, before we get to the music / show, I must say that there were a lot of guys at the show. Even metal shows have a fairly even distribution of dudes / chicks. For whatever reason (I think it may be fairly obvious) there were a lot of 40 year old guys who had went with their "fishing buddy".
With music being entire electronic, I was curious how a show like this would be performed live. I believe the singer called it a night of "elec.... tronic entertainment".
Being that there are really only two guys in the Pet Shop Boys (based on my understanding), I was curious if this would work live. It appeared that one guy controlled all the beats and played keyboards. The other guy sang.
If it wasn't for the overdone visual, I don't think it would have worked well. They had some extremely unique lighting which was really cool. The 2 dancers on stage were ....uh.....weird.
I thought that some of the songs were much better live than on the cd but other songs were much better on cd than they were live. I guess that's typical though. There was a difference between listening to a "group" like this on a cd and seeing them live.
Overall, I've decided that I'm glad I went, but I don't think I'll be doing any shows like this again.
