I built up a pedalboard with one goal in mind: To be able to use the effects for both guitar and vocals. I have seemingly reached that goal with the setup I'm currently using. The loop pedal, along with misc. effects really add to the mix. Now two problems have risen. 1. It's big (that's what she said). Almost too big to lug anywhere. I would like to get rid of the small mixing board. 2. If I'm singing and playing, I can't apply the effects to just the guitar or just the vox, it has to be both simultaneously. I'd like to change that as well.
I'm pretty good with my hands (Again, that's what she said) so soldering a few wires together and making my own board isn't a problem, but I really don't know where to start as far as drawing up a wiring diagram. I thought of replacing the mixer with a make-shift XLR input(vox) and 1/4" jack(gtr.), both wired into a 1/4" output to plug in through the pedals. I could even rig a splitter switch to turn on and reroute the vocal or guitar signal when an effect is desired on one or the other. Any concerns of sound issues? I'm trying to explain this as simply as I can, plus I watch "The Office", so bare with me! Even simpler: I want to run vox and guitar through an effects board, and have the option to split the signals to apply effects to one or the other. Any ideas??? |
