Default Schools for audio production/engineering

I really want to get into the field of music production and engineering. I've read up about a few schools like Fullsail, CRAS, and SAE. I just do not know anything about the industry or if these schools really live up to the hype. Do you guys know of what schools are the best for getting into this? its something ive always wanted to do... have a huge studio someday, wow im dreaming. i can go to a big university for mechanical engineering no problem, but i think my heart lies more in music than anything else and its something i want to pursue.

I feel you dude, I'm still a junior in high school - have the grades and SAT score to go to a "good" college and major in something that will help me get a job thats financially satisfying, but I'm much more intrigued with music. How old are you?

I'd say try and get some friends who are going to a studio soon, and ask if you can come to sit along and watch. When my band went to the studio to record, it was a great experience. I'm lucky to have friends and family who are involved in the music industry, but not many people have that luck.
