OT: Web streaming

What I want to know is whether you can see the image, probably a wooden floor, possibly with people walking past or dancing.

If one works, or both, or neither, can you report it here...

Yeah, the scenery changed when the lights went off in the concert hall... that's where the camera is.

Thanks for helping out folks. The link is now down. I'm coming to the conclusion that embedded media file is not the way to go with this, and probably a link for people to set up in their own media player is the way to go.

Let us know how this goes... I'm wrestling with this as well at the moment. I have one site devoted to Forensic Audio that will just have .mp3 samples etc but my others need to be protected - meaning I can set up 'streams" for clients but they can not actually download the actual files... I don't actually need real time streaming... just something buffered and protected from import - "play only"... and CHEAP...

Anything you can listen to is pirateable. Are you looking for casual protection? I think a Windows server will give this if you use a live stream.

I have approval to do a study into our system so that when September rolls round, we can make informed decisions on the quality of our streams. We will be dealing with a wide variety of source material from speech only lectures, to classical recitals. With video and audio. Obviously they each have their own requirements.

I won't however be looking into copy issues. I've been advised that our university has a licence to broadcast but not to distribute. As far as I'm concerned, using a Windows Server and a Windows Media Encoder, I'm covered. We will probably be able to offer non-copyrighted music for download, but most of what we do will be live streaming and probably 30 second teasers.
