If you're talking about the pure sonic quality of the music, It might just be the difference between music mastered in a pro environment by a pro mastering engineer vs. music that mastered with a plug in. It's a whole other science and it makes a world of difference. Well mastered music can be played on almost anything and it still sounds really good.
very true. nicely said. and this is very possible. i was just a little suspicious though as MySpace did just make a somewhat controversial deal with the Big Four to carry the entire discography of certain artists, and i find it hard to believe that the labels didn't try and get every single little concession they could out of the deal.

Yea I'm kinda leaning that way in thinking myself.

You can't compete with the studios with all the right gear and all the knowledge and all the right people with all those years of experience.
Oh yea and all the money and time to do whatever it takes to make it all good.
Do I say all to much?

Hey Scooterlow,
I didn't mean we can't or shouldn't be equally creative. I was just making a point to the forum that professionally mastered (or the techniques that approximate that) stuff is what makes the difference between music appearing to be 'messed with' when it gets squashed on a site such as Myspace. I personally don't believe there is anything any of us can't do with enough time and skill and desire. There's isn't one mastering engineer in the world who was born knowing how to master...

I get ya. I just frustrates me sometime. Knowing if I had better gear I know I would be a lot happier with my final mixes. But don't most people feel that way.
