I finally got around to watching Metal: A Headbanger's Journey the other day. Some Canadian dude is an anthropologist but also a long term metalhead. He's trying to kinda sorta analyze why people are drawn to such ruckus.
While his little little bits about "air guitar" are nearly as embarassing as the recording studio moments in VH1s Def Leppard movie, the documentary is well put together and recommended. Brandon
