Default how safe is it to buy mbox gear on ebay?

hey guys, im a long time musician interested in getting in to some minor recording. i just picked up an audix i5 mic, and am excited to start recording things. im looking for either an mbox 2 or mbox 2 mini. ive seen a lot of mbox 2 for sale (new) on ebay for around 350 bucks. is it safe to buy this stuff? will the serial codes and what not get all messed up when i try to register it? furthermore, im planing on getting a new laptop come summer, is it going to be possible to switch the software over to that after installing it on the initial computer?

I suppose it depends on who you ask. Personally Ive had a bad experience buying off ebay so Im of the opinion that its better and safer to buy things through 'normal' channels. Just my opinion.

Windows has a 'File and Settings Transfer' function which enables you to transfer all your files etc from one computer to the next. However I dont know if it is able to move your installed programs over too.
System Mechanic Pro has the ability to move an installed program from one drive to another; maybe thats something to look into.
