Default Great Vocals

So I'm a musician. I sing, play guitar, piano, the works. Anyway, as I sit down to play and sing I realize some days I amaze myself. Just some days I sing and my vocals will sound so amazingly great, I can't believe I'm even singing. Then the next day I'll sit down pick up a guitar and start singing... I hear myself and I just think to myself what the hell happened to me falling in love with my voice the other day. I mean it's still the same voice and enjoyable to me just now it doesn't remind me of spring lakes and floating through clouds, instead I'm flipping the raft and getting hit by planes.

So basically does anyone want to dish out some tips on keeping your voices up and ready?

Trained singers practice every day. I don't know how much - they don't have the stamina to sing indefinitely like a pianist would for example, but a full practice of an hour or whatever every day, exercising the vocal cords should make your singing more consistent. Everyone has off days, but if you practice often and fully, you increase the chances of a good day.

Voice lessons might help you to make sure you're singing efficiently.

Vocals are a lot like fitness.

There are 7,000 theories on what you should be doing. Most of them are wrong. In the end, go old hard work is the difference between a pro and an amateur dick weed.

Your voice is a muscle (more or less). By doing proper excercises, you can strengthen it and improve consistency so that you sound good every day.

In a lot of ways, a singer is a lot like a basketball player. If you get drunk, stay up til 4am, get 3 hours sleep and then try to play a game your body will not do as well as it would if it were properly rested.

Your diet, your sleep situation, and your mood all effect your voices condition.

Hell, I was doing some voiceover stuff a while back. I noticed that I liked my voice a LOT better when I first got up. It was deeper and more ballsy. At 4pm, I sounded like a little pussy.

Fair warning! If you do a lot of research on this, you are going to get all kinds of crazy opinions like "don't drink caffeine" or "avoid dairy". It'll start to sound like witchcraft or something. So stick with the basic fundamentals that most people agree on. Without a doubt, regular practice is the best way.

hello I'm a professional singer, my advice to you is don't strain your voice, choose the songs in the right key that will suit your voice, when you put power in your voice only put power in this sounds A. E. I. O. U. All the other sounds come out of your throat, if you try and put power in the other sounds that means you're straining your throat, so remember only put power in A.E.I.O.U.

I find that singing scales helps. Start with a B major scale. Play the scale up and down once on your guitar. Then play it again and sing/hum along with it. Now go up one half-step to C major. Then up another half step. Just keep going up by half steps. Don't go to high. I use the word 'bom' on every note. Then I use the word 'die' on every note. Then I use the word 'ah' on every note. Try to do this at least 15 minutes a day. Every day.
