garageband.com is a great site. It's a great way to get an idea of how good or bad your music is. It's also a great way to get some exposure since some music execs. go there too.

How many bands have been signed by Garageband.com alone?

It's a great site, but I'm skeptical as to how many label execs really visit it.

The site says that a dozen or so of their artists have been signed. Whether that's just because of Garageband, or because of other things like American Idol (Bo Bice was on GB and on AI), I have no idea.

I wonder if it directly stems from them being seen by the right person on garageband or "the artist" got signed and happened to be posting their music on garageband........I think I will investigate......

Here are my thoughts:

Any band that is worth a shit in the marketing department is going to be on every possible outlet possible. That includes both Earth and cyberspace. They'll have a myspace, purevolume, garageband etc. If an artist is signed without those things, it's because someone found them living in a tent in the middle of Feb (true story).

If garageband gets people real exposure, GREAT! I'm all for it, but I'm a bit hesitant to think that garageband did all the work. Either way, there is no reason not to do it.

I agree. If al you needed to do was sign up with GB, there'd be a lot more signed artists. But it is a good tool to use to promote your band.
