Default Do you buy your music gear online? If so, where?

Hey dudes,

I was just wondering how many of you buy your music gear online. If you do buy your music gear online, what site(s) do you buy from?

Brandon

Sweetwater. They have a wider selection than musicansfriend(althought not as specialized as say, mercenary audio) and they can kiss your ass like no other

EBAY! You can often find NEW stuff from music stores listed for a bit less than you can buy direct from the most popular online stores like Zsounds and Musicians's Friend, and even find some big stores you didn't know about

I window shop at those big online stores but due to financial limitations Ihave spent alot of time on ebay.
I just bought an Alesis RA-100 which is like brand new and I was quite surprised at the quality of this amp. It is the last thing that I needed to set up my studio and it took alot of ebay auctions to finally get one. I was sooo happy. My winning bid was only $91, the seller was in Seattle so I picked it up, saving shipping. He gave me some good cables too and I gave him $120 just because I was so happy to get it and the extra cables which were just the length I needed.

Ebay is also a good resource to learn from. I looked at well over 3,000 listings on power amps and then went out and searched for specs and manuals on a number of them so I learned quite a bit about them. The Alesis RA-100 was right on for the specs I needed.

I also bought two small Shure Microphones, at $10 each, an SM18W and a SM18B SMALL DYNAMIC MICROPHONES that are supposed to be good for harmonicas. I'll find out. Those will probably be here tomorrow.

I have got some pretty good deals on Ebay but it takes quite a bit of TIME to search out items and watch auctions. I have more time than money though.

Thank goodness all of that searching for months has paid off and it's over with. I got really burned out on it, but now I'll be ready to set up my home recording studio as soon as I get this place cleaned up and re-arranged. Hooray!

I have bought some stuff from Sweetwater, with no problems. They have a wide selection of stuff and good quality and customer service. I have bought some stuff on e-bay also, and had a terrible experience. The merchandise was shoddy and it took alot of time and hassling to get a refund.

There are some great deals out there and Sweetwater is not one of them... Musicians Friend either unless you happen upon a really good deal.

Google for places like Touring Supply, Florida Music, National Sound in Atlanta (My contact no longer works there so I'm not sure) but if you google the product you're looking for you'll find a bunch of other places besides Sweetwater, MF, AMS, B&H, Markertech etc that are dying to give you great deals to get your business!
