Do Today's Recordings Sound Better ?

Hey dudes,

I was just curious as to how forum readers felt about modern production vs old school recordings.

There are the old school guys who think the best sounding recordings were done by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or Pink Floyd (interestingly the most popular bands of all time).

There are many kids today that think records by Lincoln Park or Nickelback have the most enormous production ever.

What do you think?

Are we talking mainstream pop only?

Yeah, I guess for the actual poll we are referring to your standard pop, rock, rap, or whatever.

However, if you have opinions on other styles, I'd love for you to discuss them here.

The problem these days as we all already know is the producer's quest for the loudest recording available. Compressing the shit out of everything is common practice regardless of how it degrades the audio quality.

In non-competitive genre's the quality today is better. Jazz, classical.
