Default Best school for audio in florida?

Hey All,
Two questions. First, is there a Masters degree having to do with studio recording/mixing/masternig? And second, what are the best schools in Florida for such a degree, if one exists?

I know that here at work, we hire a lot of people from the university of miami audio engineering program. I understand that they have a pretty good music engineering program, but that's engineering as in electrical/computer engineering, not really mixing/mastering "engineering," so it might not be exactly what you're looking for.

By the way, I noticed you are/were/will be a BYU grad. Me too. Graduated last year.

I believe Full Sail includes up to a masters degree.

Bozmillar - So the audio engineering program at U of Miami is for audio electronics engineering? Like designing audio circuits? That's pretty cool, I'm doing a double major in computer science and sound recording. You graduated from BYU last year, huh? What in? Are you in Florida?

I graduated in Electrical Engineering, working at Dolby Labs now. A lot of the people I work with graduated from University of Miami. I think it's like an electrical engineering degree with a focus on audio applications, probably most focused on DSP stuff.

Cool! How do you like working at Dolby Labs? What do you work on? Are you located in Florida? Do you get to do much recording/mixing?

We're in San Francisco. I'm working right now on a project that does some processing on laptop speakers to make them sound better.

As far as recording/mixing goes, I don't do any at work. I just do that for fun at home, although my work helps my recordings, and my recordings help my work.

You're one lucky dude. I'm a BSEE and never got to work in that kind of environment.

And as I always say: "If you're job ain't phun, then you're not doing it right!"

You're obviously doing your job right! It's also a hobby.

I know about full sail, they are actively trying to recruit me. But I have heard from so many people on audio forms saying "full sail people don't know anything", and I've heard rumors (true or not - I don't know) about people walking into job interviews, saying they're from full sail, and getting turned down on the spot. I looked into their Entertainment Business Master and my audio teacher at my school said if you go anywhere outside the entertainment business, that masters degree won't mean much. So.... I'm wondering if there are better, or at least more respected, schools. Or am I completely mistaken and haven't heard all the good stuff about full sail? I have heard plenty that's positive from full sail itself, their staffers and whatnot, but I want to know how they're respected in the general audio community. So far my impression of that has been negative.
