BAR CHORD HARVEST, a documentary featuring interviews and original music from unsigned bands in St. Louis, Southeast Missouri, and Southern Illinois, is the first project by independent filmmaker Brooks Kohler.

"I just hit the road and turned on the cameras," says Kohler. " I think a lot of people who have a passion to create learn this."

Kohler, who is also a screenwriter, is an avid fan and supporter of unsigned bands in the Midwest. BAR CHORD HARVEST is his latest and greatest attempt at showcasing rock bands from the Bible Belt - those who normally wouldn't get the exposure.

The film is quite possibly the first of its kind, and could potentially open doors to future projects for Kohler, as well as giving those outside the area a rare glimpse into the lives of independent bands and musicians who hail from the Heartland of America.

"If this works, I’ll definitely make another one; there’s a lot a great music being made around here. People need to hear it."

A wide variety of bands appear in the film, including St. Louis funk rockers Science Hill to rural Southeast Missouri death metal band Butchered.
