Default 25 Years...

Well it's been 25 years since John Lennon was shot. I was born post-assassination, but still... it's hard to imagine that he died so long ago. He's still as relevent as ever in political discussions, and his work is still revered by many.

I was always a George person myself, but I have always loved "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine." Something about the simplicity of both just drives their message home.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on John?

John was a rocker first and foremost. A great songwriter, vocalist, band leader, and a much better musician than what people give him credit for. He was a natural comedian also. Unfortuantely he was, albeit self acknowledged, a major hypocrite. "Imagine no possesions"; ballderdash!

My favorite Lennon solo album, by far, is "Plastic Ono Band". I consider it his punk album.

Honestly I believe should he have lived he would've divorced Yoko and got back to making some good rock 'n roll, maybe even with that old band of his.

I don't know a whole lot about the Beatles or John Lennon, but there is no doubt that their best work is some of the best work...period.

I would say that they carved a path that really set us up for modern studio recording.....

You can read a whole lot about it in "All You Need Is Ears". It was a very fun book to read. It's in the shop now.
