Default Super Secret Future Products From Slate Digital

I happen to be aware of some ultra-mega new products from Slate that are in the pipeline. The Slate guys tell me that these will kick the poop (yes, I called the "shit" poop. ) out of current offerings from other tip top plugin manufacturers. Of course, everyone lies in a capitalist society, but the Slate guys always seem to crank out plugins that work and work better than their counterparts.

So the grand prize winner of the Slate Digital Cup will not only receive...
    1. Steven Slate Drums 4 (SSD4)
    2. FG-X Mastering Processor
    3. The Console Collection
    4. RC-Tube

....but they will also receive all the future Slate Digital plugins. There are going to be quite a few.

    I'm pumped!!

Note: The reason I can't tell you what they are (and I definitely know ) is apparently GM doesn't want Ford to know they are building a new Corvette or Lumina. Damn corporate espionage.

Well, I've read some rumours that a tape thingy is coming. Any comments Brandon?

Yes. My comments are I've found a lot of great uses for the UAD Studer A800, but I'm 100% open to anything that sounds better and lets me use more UAD Manley Massive Passive instances.

I'm sworn to secrecy, but I'll gladly tell you some lies if you want.

Haha, shure! Truth or lie, I don't care, just tell me something.

One truth for me though since you mention the UAD-thingy; The card is loosing more and more of it's "me-wants" factor. I'd still like to get the massive passive and some of the reverbs but thanks to awesome people like Slate, the options keep growing! And for the better (at least I believe so).

Many of their plugins are damn good. 5 years ago plugins weren't where they are now and the UAD card model made a lot of sense on many levels.

In 18 months, CPU power will double again. In 36 months, it will double again. From a long term perspective, the nature of the UAD card is actually limiting. While I love not taxing my CPU much with UAD, it really blows that there are some mixes I do where I can't put Massive Passive on the 2bus, for example, because I've chewed up my UAD-2 card even though my computer has plenty of oomph left. I CAN buy another one for about $1k or so, but I could buy a whole new computer for that. That's the biggest problem, I guess.

It's been easier here lately since I've fallen in love with...

That handles a big ol' chunk of my typical processing. If the multi-band could be placed before the EQ in Alloy (which I don't think is possible...I'll have to verify that) it would pretty much handle 90% of my standard processing. That frees up the UAD card for fun stuff like FATSO, Massive Passive, etc.

While many of the comps in UAD are very nice, I'm getting to a point in my setup where I'll have hardware for most of my buses. That's the goal in the next year or two. The...

compressor gets rave reviews and can often be snagged used for under $200. My setup will allow for that pretty easily soon. We'll see.

It's not a rumour- it's been announced. I think they are just being very cautious about saying when as they don't want people start getting upset when they don't hit their deadline.

I was reading through the FG-X manual and here's what I found!!! :
Make sure that before pushing a mix louder with the FG Level that you have properly balanced it with an equalizer, such as the upcoming FG-Q mastering equalizer.
So on top of the VTM (virtual tape machine) there's an EQ coming! Nice!
