    Default FG-X Virtual Mastering Processor

We don't have enough articulate people with oversized beards.

Anyway, I'm fairly content with my Sonnox Limiter or UAD Maximizer on 2bus. So is the Slate Digital FG-X mastering processor gonna knock it out of the park? No idea. I'm waiting for a fucki&g Ilok2. BLA!

The word on the street is this thing is something special. We'll find out when I run this thing through hell and back.

The FG-X is one option for the winner of each monthly contest in the Slate Digital Cup and will be included in the Grand Prize winner package of the 12-month season that includes ALL Slate Digital Plugins FOR LIFE.

This is one of the products from Slate I'm drooling over right now! I decided to go for the SSD4 first. Can't wait to hear what you think about it.

I bought the FG-X a few months ago and it is one of my go-to comp/limiters. It works great with all types of material, not just 2-bus mixes. It replaced my Waves L3 limiter with ease. I'm using it on all of my mixes lately.

The compressor section is excellent. I've used it on bass and vocals with great success. You can bet I'll be trying it on other sources too. You can slam it hard and it always sounds good.

The limiter section is unmatched. The transient adjustment knobs are miraculous. What a great invention. I can get mixes much louder than the Waves L3 without crushing the life out of the mix. And the transient controls REALLY help to tailor the peaks with an unmatched precision.

There is a button on it called 'constant gain monitoring' which is fantastic. It allows you to toggle between the compressed and uncompressed signals without any level difference. This may sound inconsequential, but it is a feature that works better than any comp I've ever used. It allows you to to A/B the compressed vs uncompressed signals in a way that is very useful. This is NOTHING like a bypass button.

Love the meters too. Nice big dBFS meters which also show RMS. The analog-style needle meters are sexy and useful too.

One of the most useful and best sounding comp/limiter plugins I've heard.

Anyway, Doug youre close to getting flagged as spam. Is it really THAT good? From all the talk im hearing about the Slate stuff (only on this site) its better than the UAD and the Waves stuff. Is that the case?

For any of the guys thinking about forking out the dough for it like myself - processing is a small part of the equation. There is another 90% that is more important.

I'm not spam, willj. I just call 'em as I see 'em.

This plug is the most useful I've used in a long time. Don't just take my word for it. Try the demo (although you'll need an iLok key before you do so).

Bought this plugin last week after demoing it and it is AMAZING! First time I had to turn down a gain knob on a limiter. My mixes became super loud while remaining super clean. Too loud I would say. I had to bring down the gain when I realized how loud they were compared to other mixes. I will use this on every mix I master myself now. The compressor is also great and transparent and the meter is works great compared to other I've used that were so-so usable or not giving good info. A must and it's 50% off this month!!! go get it
