I don't think I'll ever be at the skill level I want to be at when it comes to playing, but that is just my perfectionist nature. I am sure going to give it one hell of a shot though. My new years resolution is to play two hours a day, I will probably be going in to work tired in the morning from playing until late in the night, and breaking up with my girlfriend to spend the time I know I need to improve, but right now I am dead set on it. Come hell or high water, I will be a keyboardist!! If my girlfriend loves me, she will accept that, if she doesn't, it's a good thing i really enjoy playing! Cause that will suck!! (but probably give me a lot of sad lyrics for new material), so to answer your question "do I consider myself a keyboardist?" the answer is NO, and I never will. I will leave that up to the crowd to decide. In my own mind I will never consider myself one, I use that as my fuel to improve.

Lessons a not a bad idea, but don't wait. Start right now. If you can play guitar, you can half ass play the piano. You just have to work a whole lot harder when it comes from going to a D to a D#, for example.

That's funny that you said that. (if you can play guitar you can half-ass play piano) My husband took guitar lessons inschool, and it 's really the only instrument he plays, but he can play greensleeves on the guitar, piano and the recorder
because that's what they taught him in music class. |

Keyboardist I is!
I've played a couple of Yamahas, and three years ago got access to a Korg 01 W/pro. Finally got myself a used Korg Triton 76 last fall, and cried "HAVE MERCY!"... Would like to go to another planet for the next year or so, so people will leave me alone with it long enough to learn everything it's capable of. Amazing doesn't half describe it... My first love was the piano, though, and when my brain overloads from the Korg I always go back to it. I'm eclectic on styles. I learned classical, my family wanted church stuff so I learned hymns & southern gospel, then I strayed into jazz, rock 'n roll and pop, then folk. I like to try new things. Besides, you need a good mix to offer in order to stay busy in Alabama, where sports is king and music is not. |

I play the keyboard for a little over thirteen years now. I play in a band for about ten years. I also play the guitar too, it's my new favorite instrument. I hardly play the piano nowadays cause I got my strat strap on me all day long until my fingers gets tired and my eyes gets blurred.
On the side, I'm also learning the bass guitar just for recording purposes. |

I've been playing the piano for 15 or 16 years now. Took lessons clasically for about 13 years. Started out on a little casio keyboard. My first real piano was a 100 year old upright that had been repainted with regular black wood paint and had all the ivory stripped off the keys (but it had a good sound and thats what counts
) Right now I have an upright yamaha and a Roland KF-90 which I use when playing live with the band that is apart of the internship I attend, and at church. I want to get into recording with my keyboard now. Thats why I'm here ofcourse! ![]() |

I started playing Piano in 1992, move to keyboard a few months later, then to guitar a few months after that. Took up bass about a year after that.
I played the Korg T2 for a year or 2 and then the M1 for a few months. I play the Korg SR-X5D and sometimes the Roland Fantom
