 Who plays keyboard?
Just wondering how many folks play keyboard on the forum? What kind of equipment do you use? How long have you been playing?

I've been playing piano for about 11 years. I have a Yamaha baby grand, a Motif ES8, and Ivory. Since i've gotten Ivory I haven't mic'ed up my Yamaha or used the samples in the Motif at all.

I have a JP-8000 that until recently was mostly used for crazy sounds. Lately I've been trying to learn how to properly play the damn thing. I've always enjoyed playing around on piano and keyboard. Is there good midi-based educational software out there that you know of and/or would recommend? I'm just looking for a fun way to practice scales, chords, inversions, ... |

I can pretend to play the keyboard, AKA if you were to give me something to play, I could probably play it as long as it wasn't wicked hard. But I don't play in a band, and don't have any fancy equipment, just a cheap Casio I use for recording. So, sort of, but not really. -Tyler

I grew up with a piano in the house, got a crap Yamaha toy keyboard when I was about 12, always lusted after a 'real' synth, took some piano lessons in college (took guitar lessons for several years in grade school, so I had a musical foundation there), and just recently bought a used Korg Karma. That thing blows my mind. It inspires me in ways I never thought possible. I'm not a jazzy guy, and just messing with some of the presets on the Karma, I found myself busting out a jazz tune. I love it. So I play with a keyboard, but I'm far from considering myself a 'keyboardist.' How about you? |
