I'm not sure which part of the forum to post this in exactly, but please move to wherever more relevant if necessary.
This isn't exactly a recording issue, but its related. I was going through some of my old antique gear in my garage thats now home to numerous spiders to make a list of exactly what I have left. Quite a long time ago now, a friend gave me a pair of Selmer column speaker cabs. The only reference to them that I can find is here. They are almost identical to the ones in the picture except the Selmer logo is on the cloth rather than on a strip at the top and they don't have the prop things at the back. I think I remember my friend saying they were salvaged from an old cinema. I have run a 100watt Laney guitar head through these before and from what I remember they sounded nice. However not knowing much about cabs and speakers at the time I probably abused them a little. I think I blew a couple of the cones and so they now only have 2x12 in each rather than 4x12. This was quite a while back. Anyway, just wondered if anyone knew anything more about them. Maybe they're worth a few quid/bucks? If anything I was considering using the actual speakers (Celestions or Tannoys from what I remember) in a newer cab as I remember these cabs being a bit rattley. I'll have to dig them out and open them up to find out exactly what the speakers are. Maybe they'll go nicely in a brand new Buzzbomb cab? ![]() Another old thing I have is a H|H Electronics 100watt Head. The model number thing has been scratched off but the beginning of the model number is MA100. I couldn't find much reference to it on the net, maybe someone else knows a bit about them? It has 6 (I think) inputs on the front each with a volume and reverb level pot. It glows a nice green when turned on. Solid state with a spring reverb inside. I used to use it for vocals and as a backup guitar amp. Thanks for any additional info you can provide, I'll try to post some pics at some point if anyones interested. |
