I'm not a bass player, but I've recorded enough to know that mastering bass is TOUGH! I'm not really an SRV fan, per say, but imagine the magic he had in his hands. That's what it takes to be a hell of a bass player. Bass playing is a "feel" thing and most simply do not have it! Now if you are just playing punk rock or whatever, it is pretty easy...if your timing is amazing! Brandon

I think the bass is one of those instruments that is easy to learn and hard to master. I mean, the concept is easy in terms of the notes played, but it is hard to play them right. Anyone can be a "bass player", but not many can be actually good at it.

However, if you are suggesting that the bass is a simple instrument, you need to record with a major label producer just one song. The average bass player I record would take a day per song. I'm not kidding a bit. The ability to perfectly hit every down beat is very very rare. It takes amazing timing and most people simply don't have it. Odds are strong that if you haven't put in 1000s of hours with a metronome, you probably don't have it. Brandon
