The forum is still a little thin on the keyboard / piano / organ side of the fence. This is something I hope to improve in the near future.

I have a Wurlitzer with a Leslie... don't try to tote them to gigs... just enjoy your keyboard and lack of back pain....
most keyboards and samples have great organ sounds... maybe try that route first? |

Depends on what you mean by "organ" - if you're talking theater, church, or classical organ, then not really.
I am a long time rock organ player though - been through several Hammonds and a few Farfisas. Currently use a Korg CX3 which is the best clone I've found (although I hear there is some new stuff that's really good) Here's a couple tunes with organ - first has an organ lead. The second is a full organ jam. I Can't See the Reason Jammin' To Pieces |

I work in YAMAHA music school, we use some yamaha brand electronic organs, they are pretty cool, newest ones have motif sounds in them, you can have some bass sounds and play them with your left foot and have left hand in one keyboard (with some sound, eg. piano) and with your right hand play the other keyboard (eg, trumpet etc...)
You can also program the drums. You become a sort of one man orchestra, it's fun.. |

I have played organ in all sorts of bands over the past 35+ years- rock, reggae, blues, funk, church, etc. I have been using NI's B4 for the the past 7 years both in the studio and for live use.

I play organ in two local ska bands
For my organ sound I use the M-Audio 88es and the EVB3 on Logic Pro 88800000 I usually run the headphone jack into a guitar amp on clean. That setup is great because I can program multiple Logic instruments onto the one huge keyboard. It beats hauling around two keyboards. One of the favorite live organ tones that I've heard is from the Hammond XK-2 can't wait till I have $800ish dollars laying around so I can make that investment Shameless self plug, check out my sweet bands MySpace.com - The Heat Machine - LINCOLN, Nebraska - Ska - www.myspace.com/theheatmachine MySpace.com - Totally Awesome Fun Band - LINCOLN, US - Ska / Punk / Americana - www.myspace.com/tafb |
