Talking Instrument that is THE FUTURE! (I think)

Ok, you may disagree. But I think that the one instrument that has a major future and is in major potential of revival is the accordion.

Harmonically, it is almost as powerful as a piano. But it also has much of the expressiveness of a guitar (because you can control the intensity of the note as it is playing with the bellows). It is an amazing combination.

I recently bought one and learned to play it (well, sorta, so far) and already recorded one song with it! It's the first song here:

Society, Evolution, Love, Music - Dimitri Lozovoy's Blog and Music.

You can't disagree that an accordion can transform a song! (The song is called "Rain"; there is also a clip of an old version without the accordion on there; you can hear the difference in the vibe)

Its right up there with bagpipes for me. And I live in the city that holds the world record for the largest number of accordions being played simultaneously. The scary thing is the city didn't need to ship accordions in - there really are that many accordion owners in St. John's.

Sorry if that offends you, but saying its harmonically almost as rich as a piano offends me. And I don't even play the piano. Not very well anyway.

Oh by the way, I enjoyed the song.

Well... when I said that it's harmonically almost as powerful as a piano I meant that you can play any chord on it, in any inversion, in any key (unlike on guitar).

As far as my love of playing goes... I'd rank the keyboard instruments in the following order:

1. Real piano (which I obviously don't have)
2. Accordion
3. Electronic keyboard

Maybe I enjoy accordion so much because it's an acoustic instrument... It's completely raw and live. It responds to every little nuance of my hands... unlike an electronic keyboard. Maybe if I had a real piano, my opinion would be different.

I just tend to think that theres something very awesome and special about playing an acoustic instrument, and not being able to get access to a real piano that often, accordion is what satisfies my need for that. Maybe that's why I love it so much.
