Sarah, my partner, plays flute, whistles, etc... she's from the Kingdom, so I guess they all do that at one time or another...

No. Jethro Tull has one. But to my knowledge they don't visit the forum much.

I don't play the regular western flute, but I do play various ethnic flutes and recorders...

What is an ethnic flute? Like a flute from India or something?

Yeah, there's what you think of as a standard flute (the one they use in bands and orchestra and all that fun stuff), which I don't play, but then many different countries/ethnic groups have their own forms of flutes. For example, there are pennywhistles, ocarinas, panpipes, and other different forms of flutes (including nose flutes!).

That's a pretty good decription...

I've played flute for a couple of years, because I thought'd be easier than transposing folk tunes to my clarinet....bit lazy but hey.
