    Typing as I listen,

Straight off the bat, there are a couple of things that seem a little out of kilter. The acoustic seems to have some odd frequencies that are cutting through in an unnatural way on the left. It may just be a volume thing, but the clicking seems a little distracting. Also, the first verse has the electric and acoustic panned left with nothing on the right which to me, seems a little unbalanced. Sure, you don't need everything evenly balanced, it just felt a little weird. I see you have panned the bass to the right to compensate but it too makes the mix a little odd. I am more than happy with panned bass even though many will say otherwise, I'm just not convinced it works here.
Guitars sound pretty good and aggressive. There are a few false starts and string noises that could use some cleaning up (@1:34 for eg). Interesting that you muted the guitar solo but left the backing instruments....
Snare sounds nice and the toms are mega full (Which I think works pretty well in this song, I went for similar. Not sure if everyone will agree though). I think it is one of the overhead tracks that has a lot of snare in it and you may have panned that left too, as the snare tugs that way a little as well.
Vocals sound quite nice and full with enough depth that suits the voice. You've given it lots of room to sit in with the panning of other instruments.

Don't get me wrong, this is a really solid mix with nothing in here being a deal breaker. As I for a third time, many of my previous comments are becoming less important as I get used to what you were going for. Fundamentally, there is not much wrong, just a few little issues that you may or may not agree with. Good job!

    Hey Alex,

The unusual panning on the Bass threw me a little to start with, in fact at first I thought I'd broken my ears listening to this song so many times, lol.

As Dan said, after you listen a few times and get used to it, the rest of the mix sounds fairly solid

I think personally, I'd like a little more kick, but I'm not sure how I'd get it to play nice with the panned bass.... I may have to play with pannig the low end and see where it takes me

    Nice one

Hi, great to hear someone who's not afraid to try something different
personally though, my brain had trouble handling all the Hi-end information coming from the left (very bright acoustics and hats) and the Lo-end info from the right.
you even panned the toms that way!!! trying to make a statement???
and technically, although the days of vinyl are behind (most of) us, such panning might still give you trouble when trying to get your mix LOUD, because of the uneven energy balance. I'm all for something unusual, but I always try to balance the spectrum, eg. something bright on the right, to even the bright acoustics on the left (maybe the hats).

Odd panning, but I really like where the vocals are sitting!

really interesting panning. vocals are sounding great. The mix breaks down a little when the vocals are not there to hold it all together. Also you may want to control the verse guitar in the left side. there are a few nasty parts jumping out there. This has been a good mix to get me to think to try panning a little different and see what i get so i appreciate that. I do feel that it lacks the backbone in the end and could use a little more actually coming from the center.

Cool, inspiring panning! Not sure if it really worked with this song for me, but +1 for experementing!

Basically a nice mix, so I'm going nitpicking, and many, if not all, things are obviously subjective

Listening to the transition from verse to chorus, I think that the verse vocal is a bit too full and rich. It makes the chorus vocal sound thin, which rarely is what you want. Cut some low fat, and maybe drop it 1-2 dB, and the transition to the chorus will improve, I think. Otherwise nice vocal treatment.

Even with the bass panning, the kick gets a bit buried at times. Try to cut with EQ where the kick has important frequencies, and vice versa. Kicks can often be "un-muddied" in the 2-300 Hz area. Here I think that is mostly the bass that needs EQ to let the kick through. Try high passing the bass at different frequencies and see if it lets the kick through. Also a eq cut around 100-120 can help.

    Otherwise solid mix!

Isn't it funny how we take things for granted and only notice it when it's put into a different context than we're used to. And thats why we find the panning in this mix different to what we would call the norm.
and find it strange to listen to at first. But... If you listen to it and visualize yourself at a gig stood facing a band, how often do you see a bass player stood in the centre? Not all the time and not in every band.
We rarely mix from that point of view cos alot of the time the mix may not work. but listening to this mix from that point of view the panning didn't seem so odd for me.

Whew! Scorcher of a mix, this one - the instrumental part sounds aggressive & quite punchy - especially the guitars.

The one thing that really stands out to me is how the vocals are totally dominating the mix - Can you hear the mix compression squashing down the instruments when the vocals come in? It tends to make the vocals sound separate from the rest of the instruments. There are a number of approaches that can help - high-passing the vocals more aggressively, using more compression/automation to control them. Another thing to help the vocals integrate better is to use a common reverb for all the mix elements & send a little of each element to it.

FIRST GLANCE: Sounds very, very compressed.
DRUMS: The drums seem overcompressed. The best thing to do is have a parallel, or "clone, copy" of the drums like the toms, kick, and snare. Have aux sends to "SNAREPAR" "KICKPAR" and "TOMSPAR" or something like that. Do the heavy compression on THOSE BUSSES. Keep the source cleaner and much less compressed feeding into the "ALLDRUMS" bus. all the other "PAR" busses which would be heavily compressed can feed into the "ALLDRUMS" bus. Now you can adjust the level of those heavily compressed drums so it sounds more natural, but heavier when blended with the source drums.
BASS:The bass is right there and audible, off to the right, but definitely right there!
GUITAR:You'll defininitely need to watch the panning on these guitars. They feel all the way to the left. Balancing that out will widen out your mix A LOT. Try 75% R and 75% L and even more... (I did 100 L and 100 R for the electric rhythm)
VOCALS: The vocals are done pretty well, they're nice and in the center. I think getting other elements of the mix to revolve around them will do you good.
    OTHER (IF APPLICABLE):
    WHAT I LIKE:

COMMENTS\OVERALL MIX: There seems to be too much on the left end. There's just too much compression going on and it's muffling everything out. I think getting rid of whatever compression is doing that would be the first step toward getting this on the right track. Some good things going on, but clearing up those other things will help you a lot

Hey iamalex. This mix sounds like it is shifted quite a bit to the left. I do hear elements in the right side, but the meat of the mix is definately skewed to the left. Aside from that it is not abad mix at all. I think your drums and guitars as a whole need to come up in level to match the vox and bass level. Those elements sound a bit seperate from each other and bringing their levels closer together would maek a big differece. I like your apprach on the vox, I do hear some level spikes and dropouts that could use some more automation and some parts of the guitar tracks could use more editing out of the flubs, but the mix even with those flaws that I hear still sound respectable and I think would be a really cool mix with these things addressed. Good work.

Hey, great mix here, and a different one too.
The first thing that stroke me is the harshness some tracks got: acoustic guitars and drums mainly.
Another thing I could add is some tracks need some cleaning. At the really beginning, you could hear some finger noises on strings and some white noise too It sounds a bit odd.
You muted the solo in the middle of the song, why not. But the fret noise before that part can be considered as an announcement of something... that didn't exist here

So, a good job, some great skills but I think you could use some reference tracks to see how it supposes to be at the end.
