Ahhh yeah, I hear you on that - I somehow hit top 4 in April and was pretty psyched but have been out first round since, I started early and worked on the mix little bits at a time in April and really got it polished - I have a feeling there's something to that method. All my other submissions I've been busy and have tried to hammer it all out in 2 or 3 sittings near the end of the month - that method results in eventually posting something I'm not 100% happy with...

Then there's the fact I keep getting seeded against uber-mixers like Fhumble and Willj

Well, I certainly didn't expect to make it this far - I can only say I'm honored to be included in some pretty great company. Even if I go no further I feel like a winner at this point since I'm learning at a faster pace than I ever have. Good luck everyone, and good goin'!

It's a strange one, because whilst we all recognise that we, individualy are getting better and we are consciously aware of our own improvements, I forget that everyone else is also improving and learning!

Yeah, same in a way. I was chuffed to get in the 16 in April, and absolutely astounded to be here in this one! I have been doing the "little bit" apporach too and I am finding it works well. Not sure how practical it is if you ahav a client with 10 songs to mix and a deadline though!

Could not have said it better myself. I'm learning more, but in a sense, my mixing is taking longer! I'm wrapped I'm seeded against NRA because I really enjoyed his mix! Really, we all have stated that the comp itself, in terms of standing etc, is not why we are here, but it is a nice little confidence boost of your community and peers think you consistently push out good mixes.
