The intro dirty guitar track tone sounds killer and drums sound good too.I liked the first half of your mix quite alot,bridge to outro was good too,but i really like the first half.

Everything sounds alright to me,i especially like how and when you've faded instruments in,nicely done.

Hey man good mix here. I dig most of the sounds youve throw out. Everything is audible and has its place in the mix. Love the guitar fx.

The first thing that grabbed me was the vocals in the first verse. Maybe they could come down a little bit. They are a little to compressed at certain points. they have a bit of distortion to them in upper bass. Not distortion like youd hear on a guitar, but overtones of low end all while the highs are being sheard off. Its most noticeable in "You" and "look" of "you just look at me" but its present quite a bit thru- out the song.

I like most of your sound choices and the creative use of effects. The last choruses werent working for me because they sound noisy. The noise isnt really adding anything to the vibe of the song, and seems to be in the way a bit more than help.

Lot of good going on in this mix too tho man. Plenty of nice creative elements. I think with a couple adjustments it would really shine.

Dude, this is HUGE! You obviously have the BIG ROCK sound covered - it's all clear & big & wide... Some really excellent original fx ideas.

Technically, I can't fault the mix... superb sound.

Artistically, I felt you went "too big, too soon" - The mix started big & stayed big... dynamically (long term) there was nowhere else to go. My suggestion would be to hold back some of the big layers until the choruses. Even, then don't give us everything you've got in the first chorus - hold it back until later on.

... that would make it unbeatable in my book...

Hey Tangra, this is a loud mix man. I don't hear any tonal issues, very well controlled all around. What I do hear some stuff that I feel is taking away from the feel of the song. Your guitar fx in the second verse are out of time with the song and gives a weird sensation that just draws my ear to the fact that they are out of time. The loud mix in itself is not a problem however the mix lacks dynamics and you don't get the big impact of the final chorus which is naturally there due to the arrangement. Even with your thinner vox and the reverse reverb on the snare in the breakdown, there doesn't seem to be any impact in the last section. The reverse reverb is a great idea, what I am hearing is the reverb is louder than the actual snare hit which makes it not have the effect I think you were going after. Maybe your 2 bus compression and limiting brought up those underlying parts a bit too much. You clearly have some great skills man, but I think your mixes would have so much more impact if you can add to the dynamic impact of the song instead of just being loud. Great work over all.

Massive mix I think you have a well balanced and hard hitting mix. The guitar fx in the second verse is a good idea, would have been interesting to hear how it would have sounded tempo synced, I think that would have been a killer sound! I like the way you edited out the backing vocals in the first part of the bridge and the double chorus without bass. The mix could have benefited from more similar treatments to keep the interest throughout the arrangement. I think you have great tones, some more variation in the arrangement and build up and this is solid

nice sounding mix. no mud here, you have found the corners frequencies of your HP filters nicely.
i think technically there are no "mistakes" here. the only thing i would have done differently is chosing a slight different delay setting on the 2nd verse guitar. the responses clashes a bit with the tempo of the song. nothing dramtically though.
on the other hand; as the song approaches the final third it comes across as a bit static.
i think you could have expermented more with the dynamics of the song, bringing elemements in and out of the soundscape, building more tension and anticipation for "the next big thing".
you want to keep the excitement up all way through...
part from that - excellent work!

instrumentally things are sounding good. the distortion on the bridge is great. the other vocals i find are a little lispy like you have over deessed or compressed or something i am not sure which of those things. maybe a combination of. tone is great though. the arrangement is good i am just feeling a little lacking in the drama. don't get me wrong everything is well done and this mix is good but it does not move me. if i could tell you how to do that then i would do it myself and maybe have a mix that got more than 3 stars. i guess it is about learning enough in mixing to allow the creative juices to flow and translate into the mix. it sounds to me like you developed the skills now let the creative juices flow.

A lot of people haven't been getting their mixes up to commercial loudness. You did and kept everything feeling big and right! Some cool FX on the vox and guitars. You definitely spiced things up and gave it a professional polish. Nice!

My main gripe is the dynamics: this has about as much tension and release as a metal song - full on aggression almost all the time. A bit more ebb and flow would have helped IMO.

I think there are a lot of good things in this one. But one that amazed me is that it is pretty wide. It's really cool on headphones!

All the effects are correctly chosen and are working for the most.

My main crit will be that there is maybe too much going at a time and the song growth suffers from that. It sounds like it's always full throttle and maybe some more "gentle" moment could have help the journey. Well, not sure.

I'm not happy with the sound on the vocals. I also think you lost something going from wav to mp3 :/
I can hear my headphones distort ever soo gently from the spread vocals.

Nice sounding mix. creative sounding fx on guitars, drums, voc. the ideals were spot on just a little more time refining them within the flow of the song would have done it imo. I think with some other minor adjustments in dynamics which in ffhingaz post he already wrote about would help. Big sound nice job

Wow, awesome transition into the chorus. Vocals sound great and the mix has a great deal of energy. The tremelo'd guitar is a great idea and I think you got it 90% right. It just does not quite sound as 'locked' to the tempo of the song as it could have been. I'm sure you used synching options but it just did not quite feel as tight (I'm being really picky here).
The bridge is the Achilles heel for most of us and I think you got most of the way in getting it right with the lo-fi vocals. The muted bass is a great idea in the final chorus, but I would look to remove more than just that to have even greater impact, even if it was just the synths.
I gotta say, this is my favorite mix so far and you have done an awesome job in trying to liven it up, keep it interesting and keep the momentum going. I'd give you 4 stars as I think some experiments did not quite work, but you're getting 5 simply because you made enjoy the song and genuinely had me excited in the choruses. That, in the end, is what mixing is all about and you nailed it. Awesome job!

Got to agree with Fhumble - to much to soon dynamically, but nice clarity and tonality on individual elements - I like the lo-fi vocal in the bridge, I toyed with that idea too, but scrapped it last minute (along with like 5 other things I tried haha). Double on the final chorus is a cool touch arrangement wise and first time Its been done I think. Very vocally driven mix, almost to the point that you could bring the vox down a dB or two without hurting your overall mix. Solid work dude.

I've been quite busy in the past month with another project and didn't have time to dig deep into the details of this mix. Actually I spent most of my time on pocketing the tracks. I used the syncing option of the tremelo'd guitar, but for some reason did not sound quite synced.Since I was in a hurry I decided to keep it as it was.
I looked at this more like an opportunity to show my approach to a potential client than presenting a final mix.

I imagine this is the kind of song to be played at the end of a concert (i.e. after the climax) when people sing with the band and this detail about dynamics is less important.

A very solid mix. Great tone, width and panning choices. The guitar break after the bridge is the best I've heard yet! Very interesting and creative choices throughout. I did hear digital clipping during the bridge, and the vocals are a bit heavy in the 500Hz-ish range (I only know from my own mix) which causes them to distort sometimes, but that's about it. It doesn't take away from such excellent work!

Maybe the issue with your tremolo guitar was because the session bpm was different? Not sure what happened there.

I love your snare sound on this. I wish the kick had some more oomph to it to complement that big snare sound. Kick seems a bit too tight for this song. Guitars sound good too, nice that you got them big and spread out, just what this sound needs IMO. I really wish we would've gotten two rhythm guitar tracks for it, two takes. I'm always wary of doubling one take and flipping them out wide, I usually get bad results doing that myself. The vox could maybe use a touch less in the low mid 200hz department, then boost their volume up to compensate for the difference.

Could've killed that tremlo guitar instead of burring it though..
At points you have distortion on the chorus.
and lo-cutting the tremlo would (i imagine) clean up that 200-300h problem
Though the mix could use a little more tweaking. It deserves a 5.

Nice mix !

Removing the distorted guitars during the verses was a bit off. Very interesting decision though. The guitars could come up during the choruses by 3 db. The kick and snare could both come up by 2 db. The killswitch effect was nice. Very balanced mix. I enjoyed listening to it.
