Default Wisdom teeth

Just got mine out. I feel surprisingly good. Everyone told me about how much it would suck, but besides the fact that my mouth is a little sore and I can't eat anything solid, I feel fine.

Oh, and the Vicodin makes me sleepy. But hey, that's probably why I'm not in a lot of pain right now, so I'm not complaining.

Any of you have any stories, horror or otherwise, about this topic?

Angry Re: Wisdom teeth

I had 4 of the 5 wisdom teeth that I have left out yesterday. It was horrible. The IV sedation didn't work at all. You know how most dentists or oral surgeons wait until the novicane numbs up before they begin their work? Well, this one didn't. He wet right to cutting and drilling that I could feel everything that he was doing. When I felt him cut the bone to get my lower left one out I screamd OW and begin to cry out. He slapped my arm and said "You stop that! Stop that right now!" I have had 3 children, 3 misscarriages, and a hysterectomy. Trust me I can handle pain. That really hurt. I am better today only the left bottom of my lip and chin are numb. I am taking percoset for the pain and dealing with that ok, but it is hard to drink and eat any liquids with a numb lip. I hope he didn't damage a nerve and that is why I felt it hurt so badly could that be why it is still the only thing numb in my mouth?

Yah, back in June, I had my wisdom teeth pulled. All of them were completely impacted (as in they were completely and totally part of the jaw bone). It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, though. I mean, I was totally out of it for the extraction (general anesthesia, the I.V. drip worked very well, out in about 5 minutes), then I didn't realize anything happened until I woke up in another room and my face felt like it collided with a semi-truck. But my mom drove me back home and I watched TV for the afternoon. So I was feeling pretty good, and actually wanted to eat a lot, but since I was still pretty drugged up (750 mg of hydrocodone with 600mg of ibuprofen and the remnants of Novocaine) and couldn't feel my own tongue, I pretty much only could eat liquids. But lo and behold, my friend's band was playing a show that night, so I was really trying to get better for that evening. I made it to 7:30 (they played at 8:00), but right when I was about to leave, my stomach, which had been bothering me all day, finally gave in. The excess blood/anesthesia which had made its way into my stomach finally came out in one massive spew of vomit. Needless to say, it was nasty. So I told my friend who was gonna take me there (you're supposed to drive for 24 hours after surgery) I wasn't gonna go. What do you know, 10 minutes later, I felt better than I had all day.

IN short, Wisdom teeth suck!

Lissaw, unfortunately, he probably damaged a nerve. But the good news is that it'll heal back, so it should only be numb for a few weeks at most.

I think it's a lot better when you're younger. I was fine, but I've heard people, especially those who got them out much later, say it was the worst experience of their life.

Question Re: Wisdom teeth

I still don't feel that great! It has been 3 days. My face is huge even though I've been icing and moist heating it.
I really can't understand why the IV sedation didn't work at all for me. I felt a little light headed after the first injection but that was the extent of it. I think my vein blew or something because usually I go right out with just that before general anestisia. Any ideas? This was like something you watch on TV or something I never imagined it happening to me.
