Default Unrated Version

I am about 25 minutes into Live Free or Die Hard, the unrated DVD, and already I have heard "shit" and "fuck" twice as many times as I remember when I saw it in the theatre. In the menu of the DVD they give you the option of watching the safe theatrical version or the bad ass unrated version.

I think we have discussed this in the past, about how more movies these days are being slightly toned down to get that PG13 rating and attract a larger audience in the cinema. I think it is interesting that they essentially film the extended, extra violent version of the film and edit it all out to be safe for the cinema just so they can put it all back in for the DVD release.
