Doesn't get under my skin...not a bit. I just thought it made for a great 'megalomaniac' character.

Clint as in Clint Eastwood? Wouldn't surprise me.

An established actor told me that Johnny Depp had a clause in his contract requiring set supervisors to instruct scene extras and crew to 'not make eye contact with him'.

His words were...I have one request. Do us all a favor. If you get famous. Don't be a dick. Some people get a taste of success, and begin to think they're much more important than they actually are.

Correction: "A large majority of people who get a taste of success begin to think they're much more important than they actually are."

I don't blame them, I blame the fawning/drooling crowds whose own lack of self-esteem compels them to worship celebrity in an effort to feel better about themselves.

Palin concluded by linking to a post on the Fox News website titled, “American taxpayers betrayed by chicken-hearted RINOs,” which stands for “Republicans in name only.”

I wasn't using this list as a negative thing. I'm influenced by the people on my list. I should've read your initial description more carefully.
Dave Ramsay tapped into the religious market which is sometimes a tough nut to crack.
I find him to be strict but his book helped me clean up my finances big time.

I don't know if it was self-imposed, but he got a lot of credit for bringing surrealism to the forefront, whether he was the first, as some claim, is not necessarily true. Besides, the art, he himself maintained quite an eccentric persona.
Relating his art style to a music style is quite a mind trip.

I do better with these list type questions when they have a more Positive spin on them.

    Very witty.
Judging art and music beyond the technical is just an opinion.
Anyone that excels in life gets some haters along the way. Catch them on a bad day, and some bad publicity, it's very fickle as to who's cool and not in the general public persona.
I feel that country music in general is very G rated and safe. Even the sounds aren't offensive compared to a loud punk band just for example. That helps generate some popularity. Disney movies all do great. Some of the arty stuff gets lost and misunderstood.

I think that way with Ceo's and execs too. They have to make a lot of decisions, some aren't popular. It's a tough gig.
Things can go well for years, Mel Gibson for example was a "could do no wrong sex symbol" and look at him now.
Apple has gone down a notch or two recently. I think the main quality factor in that brand was Steve Jobs.
Sammy Hagar changed Van Halen big time, for the better or worse, it was completely a different band.

When you're on top, you stand out and people are always gonna take shots at you. Second or third down is much safer.
Public persona and opinion hold a lot of weight as to a success or failure. So much of it is fake too.
In my humble opinion, of course
